When the "rip off" factor was brought up, I don't remember him replying whatsoever to either confirm or deny it. Normally people don't reply to something like that if it's true but that could just be me assuming things.
Also, there are an decent amount of scenes that are used in exactly the same places in the song. But once more, that could just be me.
If it wasn't a rip off and he's actually said that it was just a coincidence I'll totally retract my rip off statement and simply leave it as Danger Days is a way better video than Angels. At least it is in my opinion :P
But yeah, if it wasn't a rip off, then I apologize. Still doesn't change my opinion of it, but if I'm incorrect than my bad. -

It's one of my favorite action videos of 2011.
I'll agree with you on the fact that "Angels Made From Neon" is really forgettable. I saw it multiple times on the big screen during Anime Expo and each time I couldn't remember what the f'ing video was before it started, even with the title being a direct lyric from the song. And even once it started I was like "Oh yeah! This is that one Panty and Stocking video! Makes me think of those two hot cosplayers walking around dressed as the two of them =w= But what was this video about again?...Oh it won? That's nice I guess?...."
Then after SSG released it and someone actually posted Danger Days in the comments and stated that it came out MONTHS before Angels, it was kind of swept under the rug.
As for "Written In the Spirals," hell yes. Primarily because it's incredibly difficult to make a good video with rap. I mean, people do it yes, but that's not to say it's particularly good. In addition to making a video with rap, he made it so non-rap lovers can seriously dig it and that is a feat in and of itself. If only Shin was a little less of a whore ;p But eh, I'm not going to rag on him too much till he reaches Brad DeMoss/Sudio Hybrid status. Then he'll need to be put out to pasture lol
And "W.itch for the night" ehhhh....It's better now that I re-watch it but there still isn't anything that makes it stand out for me. As a character profile I find it weak in the fact that all I take from it is "she stabs shit and looks angry a lot...this is angsty I guess?" and as an action video there isn't a whole lot going on to keep me entertained. -
