JOURNAL: Eek-1 (Ikhwan )

• 2007-09-05 16:37:40 Just finished assembling my new comp. It's a dual-core 4200+, Silverstone NT05 and Abit AV8 3rd eye, and a Pioneer 18x drive. At first I was going to buy an Opteron 1.8GHz but then I thought a 2.2GHz would be overall faster even with smaller cache.

It took me nearly 3 hours clear up the dust, install everything including the 3rd eye and tidy up all the cables, but it was well worth the time. ^__^

I'm quite impressed by the overall performance. Windows 2003 runs very smooth it seems like everything is loaded into RAM since there are hardly any HDD activity when going through the explorer and the start menu. Plus, it's cooler and a lot quieter now thanks to the new heatsink that came with adjustable fam RPM. Vantec Aeroflow2 was awfully noisy.

I managed to play FFX on PCSX2 with average ~35fps, but the emulation wasn't good as the graphics were blocky and SPU bugs. I guess I better wait until 0.9.4 comes out before I begin to play.

Upcoming upgrades would be an Antec Solo casing and a pair of SATA HDDs for RAID. Hopefully next month.

Athlon64 4200+ (120 USD)
Abit AV8 3rd eye (56 USD)
Silverstone NT05 (40 USD)
Pioneer DVR-A12FXB1 (45 USD)

Quite a lot of cash spent. Now I'm broke.
• 2007-08-29 04:06:07 w00t just got my salary! Looks like the dualcore will be arriving sooner ^__^
• 2007-08-27 14:25:04 Since I haven't been editing, I sold my computer CPU & motherboard (Thorton 2400+ & Abit KD7) for RM150. That's about 42 USD. A week before I sold my Plextor 8x DVD writer for 12 bucks. I decided to wait for the coming salary early next month just so I can get a dual core AMD and a newer secondhand mobo. Finally I'm catching up to the current technology. Though the main reason I want to get a dual core is, I just want to try out PS2 emulator. hehe :D

And then this afternoon I'll be heading to a meeting with the Carrefour Groups to discuss about implementation of a web-based maintenance management system for use in their hypermarket chains. The system which mostly I have been developing & bugfixing since 3 months (and still am). So far the only reward for my hard work is only 2 days extra annual leave. No bonus that I've been hoping. With that I feel my morale is getting a bit worse. But at least for the upcoming project with Carrefour, I'll receive some initiative. The previous initiative from UMW Toyota is pending until this December.

Anyway it seems to me with the new burden coming on me, I won't be able to contribute to the AMV community for some time.
• 2007-08-26 12:28:54 I just saw a few banners up above. One of it showed a person who couldn't get enough of watching AMVs. Another showed two people who got shocked after watching an AMV.

While the reality is the opposite of those images.
• 2007-08-26 12:20:59 I just bought Trinity album by Visions of Atlantis. It's surprisingly very Nightwish-y! The female vocal reminds me of Tarja, but there are also a lot of male vocals in the album. There are slow ballads and fast metals with very little varieties in em'.

Of all the songs I think I'm liking Passing Dead End. The intro is just catchy, +speed metal in the end.
