JOURNAL: Millenium Strife (Mi-Mi-Mikuru BEEAA---M!)

  • Sakura-Con aftermath 2007-04-11 16:46:17 Just wanted to note that my video took the Action category this year. Finally, after 3 years, one of my AMVs took an award. I'm glad too since I put a lot of time into it and sacrificed a lot to get it done.

Unfortunately, there's a lot of mixed responses here on the org. Guess I shouldn't be surprised that there would be critics out there, but it kinda stings when I hear things like "average", "YUCK", and the like... guess people can't understand and won't since they don't live in my head.

I got a lot of positive responses from the judges, most of which have never seen the show before. It only made them more interested in seeing the show themselves and learning how things turned out.

I shouldn't downplay how my AMV performed. I got top comments from Vlad himself, someone who I have huge respect for in the AMV community. Just as long as I got comments in person from people who really matter, such as fellow AMV creators, friends, I won't take the naysayers comments serious.

If you want to slam my video, try doing it to my face before you think it'll matter.

Thakns again to all the people who participated in this year's contest. We had some tight competition, so see you all again next year.

  • Sakura-Con in a few days. 2007-04-01 21:53:17 Well, Sakura-Con 2007 is just around the corner. Less than 4 days, (since I'm staff) and I'll be working my tail off to help set up the convention.

Today, AMV-wise, I'm going to try and make an AMV.org friendly version of my latest project, which will be premiering at Sakura-Con's AMV contest this year, and use the org to have the downloadable version available the day after the contest.

    Stay tuned!

  • Made final Sakura-Con 2007 AMV Cuts 2007-03-31 12:19:43 Hey all,

It's been 2 weeks since the exec board for Sakura-Con viewed all the video entrants and made their picks for this year's contest. Out of the vast amount of videos entered into the contest, I was one of the lucky finalists.

Here are some excerpts from the official stats for this year's contest.

    ----

    Estimated Run Time: 2 Hours

    [Genre : Approved/Entered]

    Exhibition: 2/20

    General (116) -
Action/Adventure: 7/39 [This was the category my video entered]
    Offbeat: 6/15
    Drama/Romance: 6/40
    Comedy/Parody: 6/11
    Trailer/Commercial: 5/7

    Approved/Received: 32/108 [29 % Survival Rate]

    [Actual Contest Videos/Entered Videos]

AMVs: 32/135 [Only 23% of the entered videos actually made it into the contest!]
    OVAs: 0/2

    ---

To say the least, it's a very competitive field this year, with less videos in each category since the run time was cut 30 minutes from last year (which was 2 hours 30 minutes).

Hopefully my video turn out to be one of the top ones this year and wins some sort of award... I mean, I did only work on it since late November. >.>

    Anyways.... now I have less than a week to get myself prepared for Sakura-Con... Cosplay costumes! O_o;
