ROAD TRIP! Pocky? Check. Anime CDS? Check. Fangirls? Check.
2002-12-19 18:17:14
Yeppers. Next/next next Kyokai meeting we're taking a much needed Road Trip (more like a Field Trip) to Shotokan Anime. I went there a few weeks ago to scope it out and it was pretty awesome. The quantity of stuff was way low, but they had an entire game room and extra room to rent out. When I went in there was this HUUUGE Magic the Gathering match going on. And...DRR'S ONLY 50 CENTS! At Gameworks, it's about 1.50, so I'm pretty hyped. (And it's DDRMAX2!). If we can get the bugs worked out (ex: who's driving us, anyway? When does Shotokan close?!? What anime shall we listen to?). I'm planning on doin it after x-mas (everyone knows shopping before X-mas sucks cuz by the time you want somethin you're out of cash!!)
...Ok, I'm gonna watch the Nightmare Before Christmas (This will be the 10th time this week).

For safe Zechs use a Gundam
2002-12-16 19:23:27
Har har har. Love that title. My friend told me it. Wanna know WHY I have not been updating lately!? Well, it's all a little hing called "yu Gi Oh: The Enternal Duelists Soul." This guy at school told me it was pretty badass, and coming from someone who usually doesn't like Yu-Gi-Oh, I thought it mught be worth playing. Oh, it is. I have becomed obsessed with the Yu Gi Oh game. I may even go out and buy some cards and start dueling him. Such is the curse of the otaku. Ironically, I already have a Blue Eyes White Dragon yu gi oh card. I got it in Shonen Jump, and until now I haven't had a use for it so it's been a bookmark. I think I will add him in my ultimate über deck...as soon as I make it.
Oh, and Joseph, If you're reading this...THANK YOU FOR THE MANGA!!! (My cousin went to Japan and got me some manga and lil gatchapan toys. Plus this kawaiiiiiii lil Di Gi Charat thing. Danke!! Oh and one more thing...next time you go to Japan...TAKE ME WITH YOUUUU!)

Et tu, Kirby? A much needed rant.
2002-12-05 17:45:56
And now, a (long overdue) mini-rant on the Kirby 'anime': Kirby, Right back at ya!
I've known about the Kirby "Anime" for such a long time. Nintendo's been hypin' this thing this up since last year. So finally, the saturday morning rolls around, and I'm in my PJs huggling my Kirby plushie . And what do I get for my loyal service to the Nintendo Empire? CRAP. Absolute horseshit. I'll start off at the top. The song. How to explain that sorry excuse for music? We've got this lameass swing-style song, with the worst lyrics imaginable. They go something along the line of "Yeah, Kirby is cool! The bad guys aren't! Kirby will suck 'em up! AND TAKE THEIR POWERS! CUZ HE'S COOL!! KIRBY!!"! And then...the show starts. Ugh. The show. If you're a Kirby fan like me, you want to like it...but...you...just can't bring youself to watch it. Like if the Britney Spears ever sang 'Cruel Angel's Thesis'. The Kirby show has some of the WORST DUBBING EVER. Really. It's worse than Speed Racer, all the Godzilla movies, and every Kung-fu movie combined. And the dubbing whouldn't be bad if they had nice voices. Well, they DON'T. Kirby sounds like a 3 year old with down syndrome. King Dedede sounds like Boomhauer from King of the Hill. And that snail thing they hang out with (wtf!?) sounds like that dude that was obsessed with underwear from the Addams family cartoon.
SAMPLE OF KIRBY VOICES:
Kirby: Habblaflaggagoobgoobgoobwaaaaaa!
King Dedede: Yo man it's that Kirby man let's yo go get it man....yo.
Snail thing: Oooh! ok! yea! I'm the only one who sounds the least bit normal! oooh! Yea!
....now back to the longer than I expected rant....
Plus the psuedo 3d stuff is just icky. This show had such great potential. What really bugs me is that they call this "anime". I don't. Anime is good. This is crap. This was made in Arkansas and the people just slammed their hand on the keyboard and made up some japanese-looking names. Overall, watching a cat give birth is probably more interesting. I'm so sorry, Kirby, but your show sucks.

Itzacon Report day 2
2002-12-01 20:26:10
Most anime conventions start to lag around Sunday, right? WRONG! Itzacon today was a lot better than yesterday. We got there at 10:50 and already saw some cosplayers! Today was a better day too in the field of cosplay. A dude I saw at Dallas ComiCon (Hi ghostbusters dude!) Was there. So was a Vash, Plum, Lain, a duo of...Duos, Tamahome, and lost of people just wearing japanese stuff (fukus, kimonos, the usual). Tamahome dude was cool (Hi Tamahome dude!!). Overall, I think I spent about 20 bucks. Not bad, seeing as how I had 40 to begin with. I decided to keep most of my cash for X-mas presents. Allthough, since all the people who like anime were at the con, and shopping for presents when the person is right by you isn't fun, I think I might just have to stop by Planet Anime and pick up some stuff.
I got Shounen Jump #1 today. Nice, but no subsititute for Animerica when it comes to anime magazines. Plus every other 'spotlight on anime' in there featured DBZ. I'm indifferent to DBZ. I can't wait til they put Naruto in there. I've heard great things about Naruto.
Hmm.....we have to go back to school tomarrow. Phooey. Half of the school is gonna be asleep anyway. I better bring my schedule in my pocket, because I cannot think of my locker combo whatsoever.

Itzacon Report Day 1
2002-11-30 17:52:52
Well, we got there at about 10:30 only to find a whopping 10 PEOPLE (yes, 10). Were there. We know it's a mini-con, but, yeesh! Around 12 things really started to get ready. The arcade wasn't the best, but they had one DDR machine, and that's all I asked for. The dealers room was about the size of a video room at other cons, so it was pretty slim pickens. I got me a totoro and still have 30 bucks left. Mainly cuz my friend was being a bitch and I didn't want to walk off to the dealer room and abandon them. My other friend (Hi Honore!), my lil sis, and I were all dressed up as the characters of Spirited Away, but no one took our picture. Then, my other friend comes as Hibiki-chan, from Strawberry eggs, and gets 2 pictures taken. Wtf?! Later, she went on to join some 'adult 2-player game of skill and endurance' (OK, the skill and endurance part wasn't in the real description of the game, we just thought....y'know whatit sounds like...). We've yet to hear from her. We also learned that people say the corniest things while looking at art. Overall I think that it was pretty fun and tomarrow will be even better.
