JOURNAL: WFEATHER (Jamie Stafford)

  • Visions of the Animatrix 2004-04-13 22:05:57 I have just added "Man-Machine Mayhem," an AMV using "The Second Renaissance" from The Animatrix. Ideally, I should be able to upload it for local access later tonight. It is definitely short (1:37), but I like it and think that others will as well.

Ultimately, I would like to create at least one AMV for each tale in The Animatrix. Should I actually achieve this goal, I plan to "brand" them together as Visions of the Animatrix - at least, that is the current plan.
  • Happy New Year :-) 2004-01-17 09:33:41 2004 is finally here - and is beginning MUCH better for me personally than did 2003. Given the vision of how the year will progress for my company at work, 2004 should end even better than it began - and my envisioned role in the company should provide me with more funds in the end, which can be used to attain better equipment and software for making more AMVs :-)

I had never even considered entering the VCA contest, but received an e-mail last night that some of my videos infringe upon the rules and would disqualify me from participation. Even though I highly doubt I will win anything, I have requested the removal of the non-anime videos. If any of my AMVs have a possibility of winning anything, I believe it would likely be "If I Were Brave" (Card Captor Sakura: The Animated Movie), "Memories of a Distant Star" (Voices of a Distant Star). or "A New Age is Dawning" (Princess Mononoke).

Also, I don't often check to see what my Opinions and Star Ratings are, since I know my AMVs are not likely to attract a lot of attention, so I was quite pleasantly surprised to notice today that the three AMVs mentioned above all have 3.5 Star Ratings or higher. An even bigger surprise to me is that "Dueling Flutes" (Sailor Moon and Vampire Princess Miyu TV Series, using the "Dueling Banjos" concept) has a 2.7 Star Rating, which is actually higher than I would have granted it myself. Even "Saving Tokyo" (You're Under Arrest!: The Motion Picture) has received a higher rating than I had expected. Anywho, thanks to all those who have posted Star Ratings and Opinions for me - although Opinions are really much more useful for me, as they can better indicate what I have done "right" and where I need to improve.

May 2004 be a great year for us all :-)
  • Back Again :-) 2003-12-06 22:21:17 It has certainly been a long time, but I am now back in production :-) Specifically, I recently added "A Lonely Girl's Memories of Earth" (Voices of a Distant Star), "Saving Tokyo" (You're Under Arrest!: The Motion Picture), and tonight "Exploding Soon" (Original Dirty Pair). I have reacquired a Hollywood DV Bridge and used it for all three of these latest AMVs. I still have plenty of ideas in mind, but am searching for appropriate music.
  • Early Video Available Locally 2003-06-28 09:28:11 "A Standard Day," the second AMV I ever created, has been made available locally. For only my second video, I think it is quite good :-) I would love to do more with Gunsmith Cats, but am looking for appropriate music.
  • Local Availablility 2003-06-21 08:57:22 In the past month, I've added "Dueling Flutes" and "Memories of a Distant Star" to the local download servers. "Dueling Flutes" is definitely not the best in the world due to the limitations on which scenes I could grab from Sailor Moon and Vampire Princess Miyu TV Series and still make it appear as if the "duelists" both occupied the same space. "Memories of a Distant Star" is a personal favorite, as both a source anime (Voices of a Distant Star) and an AMV, although I think the AMV essentially "twists" the plot of the anime in a way which might slightly confuse those who see the AMV first and then the anime. I may also attempt to upload other AMVs over the weekend.
