JOURNAL: FurryCurry

  • Back to the tried and true 2005-04-19 15:36:57 I learned last night that I pretty much hate Premiere Pro.

I got it right before taking a break from editing, so I never actually tried to use it for a project until two nights ago, when I found the changes incredibly disruptive to my usual workflow.

After two hours of trying to get it to behave more like I wanted it to, manual in lap, I finally gave up because I needed to sleep.

Last night, I decided to see how things would work if I just used Premiere 6.5 again instead. Splendid. In 40 minutes, I got the project all set up, everything imported, and laid down the first 6 or so seconds of footage to near-final accuracy.

That beats the crap out of screwing around for a couple hours and only getting the first two cuts done.

I'll probably give it another shot at some point in the future, but right now I want to edit, not relearn how to do everything I can already do.

Since I'll most likely be doing any remotely complex effects in AE or Combustion anyway, and need to work really hard to improve my skills with those programs, avoiding another unnecessary layer of complication & difficulty is probably a good idea.

Yay for being a stubborn upgrade-refuser!
  • See you at Hell 2005-04-05 16:37:53 AMV Hell, that is.

Got approval for another segment, fun fun!
  • @Omni 2005-04-04 00:26:21 :-/

So sorry to hear about your grandpa. It hurts, I know.

At least I can be glad to hear you got your comp back in shape.

Safe trip to you on your way to Cali.
  • Fool's Day indeed. 2005-04-01 14:13:28 I'm laughing so hard at all the outraged NarutoYasha fans, generally clueless folks, and people who have uploaded a dozen or more vids to the site but never come to the forum before .

Heaven forbid anyone should have to wait all the way till tomorrow to watch the latest chunk of WMM crap they spent 5 whole hours on.

The best part is how they keep posting in all the relevant threads, or posting new ones, without even bothering to read first, or reading, but completely failing to comprehend the situation.

I may have to give up the notion of getting any serious amount of work done today, unless I can somehow stop myself from reading any more until the day's over. It's just too funny to stay away from.
  • Acceleration 2005-03-26 14:43:55 No sooner did my AMV hell segment master finish uploading, than I started ripping a few discs for the next thing on my menu, the last of the Short AMV Project vids I plan to do.

The other two were some of the most fun I ever had editing, and it will be a nice feeling to finally do this last one, as the project nears an end.

I even have another idea ready for when that's done, a "serious" vid that I'll probably consider contest submission material if it comes out remotely close to how well I hope it will.

I'm mindful that i don't want to overdo this and start feeling stressed about it, but right now I'm just stoked about editing, might as well go with it while it lasts.
