JOURNAL: FurryCurry

  • hmm, that's excellent! 2002-10-24 23:55:54 grayplague wrote a really in-depth and useful opinion for my video, good stuff in there that will help me! I think I'll ask if he minds if I make it public later. (not for a while yet, though, for various reasons.)

[just gave Koop a decent lengthed opinion for his Damaged Rei video. I hope he appreciates it even though I scored lower than most others.]

I hope Koopiskeva makes that one public, I'm very curious. ;D
    I really like that vid.

I have yet another song + anime that go perfectly together, Love Hine is the victim this time. Will I do this idea or the bebop one first? @_@

Hint: both songs are on the same album.
Hint: not one song by this band appears to have ever had an amv made to it, according to an amv.org database search :o

    ooh, decisions, decisions...
  • Anticipation, dread, and a change of plans 2002-10-23 16:28:40 I came to make this entry before receiving any reviews for my video, and I see that there's one waiting for me to look at.

I slightly dread looking at it, but even if its bad, at least I can hopefully take away some useful insights from it. Growth is usually accompanied by pain, that's just part of the process.

    Change of plans:
While staring out the window earlier today, I decided to put off my punch-in-the-gut violent action video, in favor of bringing the world what it needs most: another fscking Cowboy Bebop video. x_x

    Cuts. Fades. Stills.
That's all I plan to use, but I might "cheat" a little, if it really needs it to achieve what I want. The song I plan to use is kinda old school, but fits the concept I have perfectly. Not just telling the song's story, but emotionally connecting with the viewer, without resorting to digital flash, is what I have in mind. Making good choices is the name of the game this time, and if I can succeed, I will have taken a good step forward.

Quality is going to be big this time too. I WILL experiment with IVTC, and smoothing/2D cleaning, to get the best possible quality before even laying down 5 seconds of footage.

Time to take a deep breath, and read that review.

  • Post-SugoiCon 2002-10-21 00:13:14 SugoiCon 2002 was a blast. I got to meet a several AMV Makers,
The contest was well run (AX could take a few lessons from SugoiCon) ;)
and I got to see my vid on the big screen :D

My built in "applause-o-meter" tells me my video was fairly well received, which is encouraging.

Thanks to greyplague & the rest of the video staff for all their hard work!

Ever since the forums have gone down, I have read nothing (well, almost nothing ^_^ ) but journal entrys stating how people are starting new AMV's or are now hard at work on making current AMV's, far more so than I usualy see.
Perhaps the hiatus of the forum is a good thing? ^_^

Could be people are just paying more attention to their journals, instead of being distracted by the forums. Or not.

What's been up with my brain lately? A week or so ago, I had an idea for a vid so dark & savage it startled me a little. I may have to make it just to get the concept out of my head. Today I suddenly though of a song that would be perfect for a hentai/comedy vid, and a couple choice scenes that would work, and laughed aloud hard enough to cut myself shaving.

If I can effectively avoid my real-life responsibilities enough without going broke this winter, I may have some very "interesting" vids for next year's con season. ;D Getting them shown may be another matter. :-/

aaaauuuggghhh! I need to get back to packing!!!
  • scurry, scurry..... 2002-10-15 17:35:26 It's getting close enough to the trip to SugoiCon that I'm starting to feel the last-minute tension. One week back after 11 days away is barely enough time to get things on the home fron back under control, and repack the suitcase.
Meeting friends & possibly other amv'ers at the con, & the imminent debut of my first AMV, are starting to tug at the back of my mind too, urging me to revel in the anticipation, to get exited. I wish the time between now and then would speed up, though I need every minute to prepare for the trip.

I feel confident the Forums will return in some form, better than before.
