Gaugh!

I finally found a tutorial specific for Adobe Premiere and AMV creation, but it doesn't help me any!! (http://www.eden.rutgers.edu/~mcantoni/mvideos/index.html) It should, by all rights, but the process is described is so different from mine... the windows don't look the same, even though the site logo features Miaka holding an Adobe Premiere 6.0 (the version I have) manual. What's more, the author says that video capture should be done from a VCR or DVD player... to get the exact shots you want.
When Sean was trying to show me how to use Premiere (for all of 5 seconds while he was showing me DDR movies and HIS fantastic Mahoromatic/Break Down AMV... I came up with the Break Down part!), he used AVI files, like I want to... something about dragging and dropping, and setting the 'In' and 'Out' for the moments you want.
But the episodes I show keep on going along so slowly, and when I go to the part I want specifically, they go too fast for me to click In and then Out! I know I only have two episodes, but working with just one is beginning to be a pain! Maybe it's because I have XP now... I admit, I finally know my processor speed (P3, 802 MHz) and all... but even with the stability of XP, Premiere is awfully slow. Waiting for Windows Movie Maker to convert my AVIs to clips was too long... I really wish I had an iMac or an iBook right about now. Ally made iMovie look so easy to use!
GAUGH! If anyone knows how to instruct a total dummy in making AMVs in Premiere 6... preferably QUICKLY (like within a month or less) then PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

Just starting out...

Well, this is it. I finally got ahold of Windows XP and Adobe Premiere 6.0 (didn't pay a cent for either, I'm so proud!) .. and now I'm finally going to start putting my ideas to work. I've had so many ideas for AMVs before, but now I've honestly got the motivation and the tools to do it with. The know-how is something else entirely...
So I've figured out what anime I'm going to use, what music... and I suppose I have a sort of "theme..." Well, I just hope I can figure everything out right. Now, how to remove subtitles...
