The all-time classic Macross

After watching Macross Plus some days ago,I suddenly wanted to watch the original Macross.It's been a year and a half since I watched Robotech,the so called butchered US version of Macross made by Harmony Gold.
Truth be told,it didn't feel so bad.I remember myself watching the final fight(the one with the amazing song) countless times.Still the dub kinda annoys me when I watch almost only fansubs.
So,I sat down the last 2 and a half hours and watched the movie "Macross - Do you remember love" and the musical OVA "Macross Flashback 2012".Both were awesome(while writing this entry I still keep the final fight playing for n-th time) and anyone can realise why this movie became a huge hit in Japan.Must now watch the original version of the TV series too...
Truly,when mecha anime are combined with a serious love theme and an excellent OST,the spectacle is simply perfect.In this way,Gundam Seed can be considered the descendant of the Macross saga...
And yet again I find myself sitting in front of my pc damn too late at night while exams are closing in... -

Just finished watching Macross Plus.Not bad but also not good.Macross Zero was much much better plot-wise but Plus has a better animation without resorting to CG.
Yesterday I went to the beach with some university friends and took my first bath for 2008.Oh boy,the water was pretty warm for being the end of May(usually I take my first bath on mid June).Got to copy the photos from the camera to the hard disk too...^^
Anime-wise,haven't seen anything good for the past month.Only watching weekly Code Geass R2 and Kamen No Maid Guy,nothing else.Pretty poor period for anime...
Amv-wise,finished half of the amv today.Hope to complete it before summer holidays cause now I got a new request for an amv from a friend.Still I edit only once per 1 or 2 weeks...

Eurovision 2008 finals in Belgrade

So today was the night of the Eurovision 2008 finals organized by Servia in Belgrade.
And the winner was Russia.Ukraine was 2nd,Greece was 3rd (Kalomoira ftw!!^^) and Armenia 4th.It was a fierce competition among these 4 countries I can say...
Still,Eurovision has never been a contest I was fond of.All the songs are too pop for my preferences and most of the countries just have fun with it instead of sending some serious artists.Great Britain for example could easily get the 1st place every year if it were to send one of its best artists...But on the other side,it wouldn't have fun this way.^^

Weekly update

Yet another week passed.At least it was a bit different from usual...
Apart from the usual studying times I managed to find a bit of time on Tuesady to go to my cottage.Oh boy,I got totally drunk drinking one beer after another with some friends by the beach.I could play bowling with all those bottles and still have spare ones.Was it 13 or 14,I don't remember...
And we had the final of Champions League on Wednesday.Manchester United vs. Chelsea.I am a Manhcester fan(it wears red just like Olympiakos, my team^^) so when it won in penalties by 6-5 I was overjoyed.And the best sms came a little afterwards from a close friend: "Is it possible for a team dressed in red to lose?"

Amvs related,I edited a bit more today while taking a break from reading Elfen Lied manga.I highly recommend to anyone,either he/she has watched the anime or not.The story advances a lot more and it's still ongoing...Oh,the amv just goes great
Gonna watch Shana II now(ep7 right now).The first half is boring as hell but as far as I know,the 2nd half is amazing so I might skip the idiotic episodes.^^

Genshiken manga

A really weird weekend passed and I find myself writing this journal entry after having read Genshiken's manga ending.Simply put,it was marvellous and it made me crave for the anime version of the last 2 manga volumes.
~(Anime season 2 ended in the last chapter of volume 7 of manga)~
It's been a long time since I read a complete manga series and the satisfaction was damn there.Maybe I should stop watching anime a bit and read more manga,like I used to some years ago.The feeling is just way better.
On another note,I was reading the Wind Energy Handbook these days as part of my final project.The professor responsible for the project gave it to me and I found myself totally enchanted by it.Too bad it's a bit expensive to buy it for myself...^^
