Holy jumping screwbeans...Blender will generate interlaced PNGs with alpha channel :O
Wow, this just made my video 200% easier...no more nasty chroma key tweaking :D

Spend an hour re-exporting, re-framing, re-exporting...
...and you finally remember that the reason why A/V sync isn't holding is because you left in 10 frames of BLANK BUFFER SPACE.

Here's something else...

...that sucks about the Rayearth DVDs:
I've already ranted about the quality of them sucking. The problem is that, after scanning through them for the 5th time, I finally noticed that they actually start looking better down the line. They still suck, but they suck less.
The quality difference isn't just something that's entirely insignificant, either -- I just tried a quick experiment, placing two clips with similar color composition next to each other in a split-screen setup. Clip 1 was from episode 2; clip 2 from episode 13. There was a HUGE difference -- sharpness, colorization, everything.
ARGH. This is the worst source I've ever dealt with.
Come to think of it, most of my videos incorporate pretty ass-tastic sources... The R1 Wings of Honneamise DVD is ... well, ok, the Evangelion TV DVDs are ... yuck (though, I will admit, the Evangelion movies are pretty nice), my first video was made from fansubs (damnit, I want domestic release of Kanon NOW...), and now this.
The MKR I DVDs still take the cake for the most frustrating source I've ever worked wit. Crappy telecining I can deal with; consistently "eh" quality I can also work with; but not DVDs that start sucky and end up substantially less crappy. It's more tweaking than I really want to do, but will have to do in order to maintain consistent quality throughout this thing.
I also don't know how many times I've changed colorspaces in this video. There are clips rendered in RGB and YUV space that are all intermixed in weird ways, finally reaching a YUVA 16-bit primary timeline. Cinelerra's compositing engine and conversion algorithms do a remarkable job of reducing information loss, but even they are starting to show signs of deterioration. (You know it's bad when you start to tax 64-bit color descriptors -- yeah, 64-bit; don't forget the alpha channel.)
Or maybe that's just my eyes starting to give out on me at 2:50 in the morning.
Blender is currently churning away at more cel-shaded 3D that I need to integrate into the timeline of this thing. It's amazing how much effort one can pour into 46 lousy frames these days just to make things look cool...

If you want a good way to screw your mind, go watch Matrix: Reloaded and THEN watch all of the Animatrix DVD.
It hurts.
On the plus side, ideas for scene selections and effects have been flowing in my mind like crazy. I'm not sure if it's Matrix-inspired or what -- I doubt it; half of the stuff they do I couldn't hope to duplicate -- but it IS nice to be able to resume editing. I hate hitting roadblocks.
