Still working on that Maison Ikkoku project, haven't had very much time to work on it lately. I hope to get nearly half done today.
Since I am living in Vancouver now chances are I will be going to the Anime Evolution convention instead of Animethon. I would go to both but I dont know if I could get out in time for Animethon much less have the budget for it. However I should get time to go to the Anime Evolution (hopefully) by that time I will be graduating from Vancouver Film School anyways. So after the fun there I will just take the 135 straight to SFU and check things out there. If anything I just hope that the AMV contest itself wont be on that Friday. If it is then I might not be able to go to the contest itself but probably the panel. I doubt I would be much help anymore in the panels. When I did help with the Panels most of the other panelist were mor ehelpful and I had to run out early because I needed to catch the last bus going back to Fort McMurray. Oh well whatever happens happens, but before I think of that sort I got to make an AMV. I can always put out Society Of The Strange with this one if all else fails, I beleive its eligible.

New project

Put in my annual donation, another VCAs has come around, another act of shamless promotion to be ignored and not nominated. Yep sounds like another normal year. Not that I care anyways but it doesn't hurt to try. I am happy enough for where I am right now. Competitions always bring the worst out of me.
I have finally started work on the AMV project I have been thinking and planning for a year on. An AMV using Maison Ikkoku, wont be telling too much other than that the working title is "Streets Of Loneliness" and I am around 14% done it. It will probably take me a long time to finish it (if I do) since I have this and school work to think about and the school work is more important.
Thats also the reason why I haven't done an AMV in awhile; Film School and I have been looking for a original idea. Its very hard to be really original anymore so I figured I would search for music from unsigned or local bands and I found a guy whose song fits Godai pretty well. This might be my last AMV for a long time or not, I wont know till I finish this one.

Well I am back again with another entry, film school is going pretty well. I am going back to my hometown in Fort McMurray this Sunday and will be there for 2 weeks for christmas then come back to Vancouver to continue my schooling.
AMV news, well there isn't any news on when I will put out my next and possibly final AMV, I dont really have the time anymore but most importantly I haven't had a really good idea in a long time. I mean its funny that I used to pop out ideas and do them easily. Now I really got to think hard, really plan out and know what I am going to do.
Usually its a good anime that generates a good/strong idea. However in the last few years to me anime story quality has been on the decline in my opinion. While there are still alot of great anime out there and there always will be good anime, I just dont think there is as much compared to in the 90s & 80s. As I said my opinion.
Right now I am looking at a few newer titles for possible AMV ideas but nothing is concrete yet.
Samurai Champloo (great anime however action never seems to be my best attribute or at least to everyone since most of my action AMVs get lot ratings, unless I twist it into a comedy)
Planetes (Excellent anime, I have alot of ideas for this but I want to wait until I see the rest of the show before I make a decision, I have been thinking that this anime maybe perfect work for Bat Out Of Hell 4.)
Devil Lady (I am not really too fussy about this anime compared to the other Devil Man OVAs but I dont know something in my head keeps nagging me to make the Devil thing a trilogy and end it with Lady Devil however like before action doesn't seem to be popular in my audience)
It seems like alot of people are re watching one of my old AMVs called "History In Anime", some are good some and some 'so & so' then a few a bad. I am just surprised by the recent influx of people downloading and reviewing or commenting on them.
I wish I could remake the AMV however there is nearly NO way I could unless nearly everything this changed. Despite anything History In Anime is an AMV I honestly would change (only the picture & sound quality), maybe a few tidbits here and there but its one AMV that I wouldn't change. It seems like most people think I put some stuff in there as random. However I keep saying it was at random at least in my opinion. I listened to that song for one month constantly while I was preping possible anime ideas for one month. Everytime a name or event came up I would pause and write down whatever anime idea came to mind. If I could not be accurate & funny at the same time then I would do a 180 and use something completely inacurate in hopes to to get the same funny effect, I suppose many could say that failed and some would maybe say it worked but its how I did it. However ther eis no way I could remake it unless every anime on that list was on DVD and available.
Junk Boy, Big Wars (Maybe but I doubt it), Outlanders, Gowcazer, Samurai Pizza Cats, Boys Be
Plus I dont have the busget to buy all the other anime that would available on DVD and the rental stores dont really carry all of them. Remember I am Film School and i do have a budget.
In the end if I did do a remake it would be forced to be nearly completely different from the original with a few similarities. Who knows but in the end unless there is a way to take that mpg available for everyone here on the ORG and transfer it into mpg with quality to match today's top AMV I would like to if I knew how but I know it isn't possible. So who knows in the end.
Bottom line sooner or later my next AMV will come out, probably not on christmas day like it has for the last few years but it will come out sometime and probably be my last but I dont know. I feel like KISS right now. -

I will probably sound like an ass but I honestly seen this coming for a long time I guess I just didn't know when. I figure this is a small snow ball that is only going to roll down the hill and get bigger. However I am with Vlad saying that the community shouldn't break up over something like this. Dare I say this might just be healthy for the AMV community to filter out some the less serious AMV makers who just pop in to make a dozen Linkin Park or Evanscence AMV and then leave. Sort of bring the days back before where more serious AMV makers were center stage. But then I am sure many would appose my opinion.
At this point I just wonder which record company will come in next and start banning, I say Elektra. Why well one word........Metallica
I have a feeling Lars will be up for round 2, I was one of the first wave to be banned from Napster figuring I have one Metallica AMV and many others have countless others its only a matter of time. I wouldn't be surprised if Linkin Park came in and did some banning however would that be more of a blessing than a curse?
