JOURNAL: LittleAtari

  • VCA stuff 2010-01-24 01:39:15 Now I havent made any extravagant journal entries about the VCAs, but I just found out

Belzenef's Awakening and Advent Crisis made it into the Semi Finals for Best Trailer. Belzenef's Awakening is also going for best Parody.

I didnt promote these videos at all and was kind of regretting not doing so. There weren't even any posts about it in the VCA threads, so really thanks to everybody that voted for these videos and got them on the Semi Finals list regardless of them not being promoted.

I doubt that they'll win or even make the finals, but really thanks for voting for them guys.

If any of you havent seen these videos yet, here they are:

  • RE: C is for CCA's (Code's 2010-01-09 Journal Entry) 2010-01-11 15:32:48 "Code's "Trying Too Hard" Award

Winner: DZ Studios / AUN Studios

    SEriously.. You guys?

DZ, you guys take AMV editing WAY too seriously. Between Atari, Arashimone and Reda, you'd think the forums are a battlefield, and AMV editing is the tactics to defeating. You guys take yourselfs and the hobby REALLY seriously, and attempt to troll out anybody that doesn't fit the model. Take a chill pill ya'll! Ya'll are great editors and have great amount of talent and have consistantly great releases. Arashie had awesome vids, Atari had great vids, and the studio as a whole had awesome vids! But if you are too harsh towards people, all that hard work goes out the window if nobody wants to see them. =("

Code, I think if you were to ask anyone on this site what I am, not one person would say that I'm a troll. If you were to ask my own studio members, they'd say that I fail at trolling. As for my other studios members, if anyone recalls, before I joined DZ studios, I did used to be the person that called members of DZ studios for their behavior. About half a year ago, I got to know them and really, they're great guys. Till now, we get new people hanging out with us on skype and we do help with their editing and tech aspects of their AMVs. Heck we're always open to hanging out with new people.

You say that we take editing too seriously, but you're going to find that with any hobby. People are going to take it more seriously than others. Just ignore it if you dont agree with it or actually ask them why they take it as seriously as we do. So I'll give you a little bit of an answer to that question. Flat out, we see more in editing and more in videos than you probably do. We like to sit back and interpret the meanings of videos. Since we edit a lot, we like to look at how other people edit and see why we like or dislike the cuts they make and the sync style they choose. This is only natural with any hobby. Why do you think Reda brings up Nostromo a lot? He loves Running Man and Auriga because he doesnt see them as just a bunch of anime just spliced together with pretty editing. Both videos tell a story that not many people can see.

You may see us as too harsh, but honestly, I think people will benefit more from my honest opinion, rather than a dumbed down version of it. Most of the comments in announcement threads, are positive. One to two people here and there making negative comments is very useful. It gives the creator perspective. I know you're not saying that all comments have to be positive, but honestly, if my opinion of a video is that it's not good, I have a right to say that, especially when I always provide a reason for why I dont like it. I dont even need to provide a reason, but I do so that the editor knows how they can improve their work.

If anything Code, you take people here way too seriously and judge them too quickly based on just a few statements they've made. Flat out, I doubt you've ever had that much of a conversation with that many of the DZ members. I know you havent talked much to me. So instead of just making a judgment about who we are, why havent you ever stopped to ask why do and say the things we do?
