Moving Along Toward the Fateful Day
2002-10-01 17:56:14
Applications for the study abroad I wish to attend are due October 26th this year. Mines nearly completed aside from hunting down one more reference and then I get to suffer the long agony of waiting until the interviews to see if I actually get to go. In this program, only 17 students are going this year. The program is an eleven month long work / study abroad in Japan.
Essentially this application is the only seriously interesting thing going on for me right now. Other then that its just classes, classes and more classes. Ah well, if I do well this semester its only another thing to help my app out.
On the AMV scene I'll probably be unable to think about trying another one out for a good while, but I've seen some pretty good ones coming through here while browsing the opinion section of the forum. Good to see not everyone gets bogged down during fall semester. =^^=

Making the most of my trial period.
2002-09-25 10:52:59
Well, I took all the feedback I got from my video and redid parts of it, tightened timing and crossfades, and removed Yukito from the scene. After taking a step back I realized that although he was sorta a rival for Syaoran, he never seemed to see it that way. At least not nearly as funny as the way he saw Eriol as a threat. Eriol stays and gets one extra scene with Syaoran glaring at him to replace Yukito's scene. I think it makes more sense. I also made it so that Syaoran is obviously angry with Eriol, rather then him just making a cameo in what is definately suppost to be a character profile of Syaoran and, to some extent, Sakura.
If your happening to read this and wanna see the newer video you can find it on AMV's site or on my personal site at http://legendaryshrine.net/productions/

Woohoo! DV Export worked at Last! // Updated "Syaoran's Confession"
2002-09-13 01:17:11
Wei!
I got my DV AVI export to work in Virtualdub and TMPGEnc. Seems I was being dense and not realizing that I had to export in something other then 48000 Hz sound quality. I simply lowered it to 44100 Hz and it worked perfectly.
In this release I have fixed many timing errors I noticed after posting the original. Also, I replaced footage where appropriate now that I had a better quality to work with. I also took the extra mile to go through and do Inverse Telecining in TMPGEnc for the MPEG, then used that project file to compress the Divx and WMV files so all three sport quality far superior to the previous release. (Originally I did not do Inverse Telecining and I was forced to export in standard compressed AVI from Adobe Premiere.)
This release seems to be what I wanted in the end, hopefully those who update to it or view it from scratch will enjoy it as much as I did making it. Please give me feedback so I can know what to do differently on future releases!

Post - Production Thoughts //// "Syaoran's Confession"
2002-09-10 23:38:34
Well, I finally got it compressed and on the web for viewing. My one disappointment is that I had to use footage from internet files, although thankfully they were not subtitled. Unfortunately Cardcaptor Sakura has not been released past the first season (unless you purchase CardCaptors, a distinctly different anime in my opinion =^^=) and I have yet to have enough cash to import them at around $55 a DVD. When said footage does become available, rest assured I will definately remaster this release.
Other then the footage being initially weak this was primarily a relearning experience, so I sure hope I took the lessons I had in planning and transitions to heart with this one. All and all I feel that the scenes match to the music pretty well.
In reflection, I may alter the endings timing to be more in sync with the music.
