Finally updated it...
2005-03-14 22:42:46
I finally FINALLY updated my www.yetabardanime.com website to not look so cruddy. An update I've been promising for two years now! I haven't made any new videos in about a year and a half now, but I'm hoping to find the time to so it soon! I just got a nice new Power Mac G5, top of the line Dual 2.5 GHz machine, and I have to put it to good use!

New video ... sorta
2003-09-17 09:42:04
Well, I'm just starting my computer consulting business, and it's really picking up, so my spare time is severely limited now it seems. i.e. time to make music videos is rare.
However, while I had some spare time yesterday, I started a new video. This is a first for me in a few ways. First, it's the only video that I've completely planned out on paper before doing. Most times I've sat down with the video editor, would listen to a part of a song, and hope a clip idea popped into my head. For some videos this has been incredibly easy -- like my Say Goodbye inspiration that took a half hour -- and for some it's been not so easy -- my It's a Sin video that took like 3 months to finish.
Anyway, to the video. I'm basing it on the song "Overcome" by Live. It's a song that was played alot for the 9/11 tribute apparently, although I heard about the song by watching The Shield. It's the song that they use to cap Season 2 (and I'm eagerly awaiting a third season of Vic Mackey kicking some criminal ass!)
Another first with this video is the amount of anime I am going to use. I decided I wanted to try my hand at a collage video -- my videos until now have all stuck to one anime, whether it was Rurouni Kenshin, DBZ, or Gundam Wing.
This video's beta, which I'll link below, includes Kenshin, DBZ, and Adolescence of Utena. I plan to include parts from Gundam Wing, Outlaw Star, Evangelion, and other animes as well, although this beta marks the completion of 'the big part' of the video (in other words, the main lyrical part). Yes, I haven't departed from that, I try to match pictures to lyrics and tell a story. Someday perhaps I'll try my hand at mindless comedy videos, but not today :-)
So, download it. Now. http://www.yetabardanime.com/videos/beta/Overcomebeta.mpg
Email opinions to me at mikuro@yetabardanime.com. Oh, and you could check out my other videos on here. I'd particularly like more opinions on my "It's a Sin vs. I Will Survive" video. Hopefully it made the cut for being shown at AnimeNext as well (I submitted it, but they're only picking 2 hours worth of videos to show, so no guarantees, right?)

New video, new gripes
2003-08-20 18:35:02
I made a second Kenshin video today. A quickie project that was done on pure inspiration from precaptured clips (some of them I used, in fact, in Its A Sin vs. I Will Survive). Check it out, it's my "Say Goodbye" video.
Oh, and my gripe for the day: Windows Media Player 9. Or rather the fact it doesn't exist for the Mac. "Coming soon for Mac OS X: Windows Media Series 9". How soon? When MS releases WMP10 for Windows, we'll get WMP9. Great. Meanwhile I can't view alot of the new AMVs.
Then again most quality AMV authors export to MPEG, probably alot of Windows Movie Maker newbies doing the WMVs, but still, it'd be nice to view them!
Microsoft Mac team: Get off your a$$ and deliver Windows Media 9 for OS X!

Finally done
2003-08-19 18:58:20
I posted the idea for the video as a new video (a mistake probably to have done) in May, and now it's finally done.
Rurouni Kenshin (TV, OVA, and Seisou Hen were used) set to "Its a Sin vs. I Will Survive" by Pet Shop Boys featuring Gloria Gaynor. It was a great mix to work with for Rurouni Kenshin, setting Himura Kenshin as the Pet Shop Boys "It's a Sin" part and Kamiya Kaoru as Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" part. Check it out at the below address:

There are two things worth noting. One, this is my first movie using a multi-track editor (Final Cut Pro as opposed to iMovie used for past projects). Secondly, the audio track is admittedly not the highest quality. This isn't because of the codec; it's because it's a live recording and it's a download. I couldn't find this song on any CDs so it might have been bootleg recorded at a concert. However, the live nature of the song actually adds something to it I believe. The downside is that, unlike other mp3s, it wasn't 128kbps 44 KHz Stereo, but it was a 96kbps 44 KHz mono.
You be the judge. I think it came out really good, and I love it and I hope you will too. Together with my Trunks video, it's my favorite one of my own.
