JOURNAL: TheGline (The Gline)

  • BACK TO WORK, YOU! 2002-11-02 00:06:47 Yep! After a fair amount of inactivity I got to work on a new video, a quickie. It features the music of U2 and the images of Tenchi Muyo, although I won't say which song until it actually goes up.

The Tool video is probably going to be another monster -- nine minutes or more. Why do I keep doing this to myself? Probably because I love long songs, and I love long music videos even more -- it's a way to make movies without actually making movies, so to speak.

  • Don't ask where I've been.... 2002-09-11 18:27:25 I've been busy, let's leave it at that. I have a new video going up in the next couple of days, so that should keep people happy for a while. I won't say what it is or what music it has; I like people to be plesantly surprised.
  • The reactions... 2002-05-07 23:17:08 ...to the Princess Nine video are coming in. One of them is quite simply the most effusive praise I've ever gotten on any video I've done so far. Apparently all this hard work is paying off ;)

Next up: Giant Robo, Final Fantasy, Perfect Blue, Mononoke, Jin-Roh, A!MG, Hakkenden, Metropolis, the Utena movie...
  • A Modest Proposal. 2002-05-02 17:56:04 Um...

    ...can we, you know...

    ...just...

...not make any more DragonballLinkinParkBizkitKorn videos?

    Any more?

    Ever?

    Please?

    Okay?

    Thank you.
  • Sorry the last journal entry was so terse... 2002-05-02 16:10:24 I was just so exhausted from finally having pushed that video off the edit station, that I couldn't think of anything else to say.

One of my favorite bands of all time, Prong, is back in action. They have a new song, "Initiation," on their site (www.prong-23.com) -- this thing is strong enough that I'm thinking of making an AMV for it before they even have an album out. What anime...?

Again, my big problem is a lack of really inspiring music, and this comes at a very good time. I've bitched before about how so much of what passes for music these days is just total shit, completely uninteresting rehashes of things that were avant-garde ten years ago but have now become thunderingly unimaginative dead-ends. Prong were doing the whole industrial-metal thing a decade ago and getting NO recognition for it, and now fifty thousand soundalike bands are coming along and ripping them off. It's annoying and disheartening, because it makes me wonder who else now is making really good, deserving music and not getting played.

BigTruck: Cement shoes or ropes are too good for that guy. I recommend he be lowered into a meatgrinder halfway and allow rats to come in and nibble on the rest. No excuse. None.
