JOURNAL: TnAdct1 (Joseph Klemm)

  • Recent Going-Ons 2003-06-24 22:36:08 -My mother and I went to Borders on Friday to pick up the new Harry Potter book (while I also bought a MegaTokyo graphic novel). I've been reading latest Harry Potter book when I found the time, and it's looks like it's going to be the darkest HP book yet.

-I found out at Anime Club on Sunday that a few members of the anime club that I attend got involved in an auto accident during Anime Mid-Atlantic, with one member getting hurt during the accident. Thus, during Sunday's meeting, I saw pictures of the accident and signed a get-well card for the member that got hurt in the accident.

-Currently, when it comes to money, my main plans is to save up for Otakon and the upcoming Utena and FLCL DVD's. Looks like I need to list to some stuff online before August.
  • 3 Months Until Otakon 2003-05-17 00:26:55 Usually, this is where I begin my countdown for the next convention I plan to attend. However, since I won't be able to make Animazement this year (a real bummer for me, but I can understand the reason), I might as well count down the time until the next convention I plan to attend, Otakon (although AMA may be a very small possibility). My comments:

-Remember how I mentioned that I had a alternate plan in case I couldn't make Animazement? Well, my plan took place this week, as I used my income tax refund to buy myself an X-Box. So far, I just have the games my younger brother has (except for DOA Volleyball, which I'll have to get my own copy) and Crazy Taxi 3, which I bought today.

-Two of brothers had birthdays this week. Thus, I definitely got plenty of cake into my system.

-Finally, Tuesday's the day the album of the summer IMO comes out: Weird Al's Poodle Hat (what can I say? Weird Al rules). I've already listened to the first song from the album (a TV-themed parody of Eminem's "Lose Yourself), and I'm interested in checking out the rest of the album.
  • "And Thus, Fansubs Were Born" 2003-05-11 21:33:00 To start things off, it's final: as much as I want to go, I won't be able to Animazement this year, as the two hotel rooms that the anime club got for the convention are full. While I do have substitute plans with the money I have planned to use at the convention, I still won't be able to replace the fun that I usually have at those (i.e. talking to other anime fans, taking cosplay pictures and showing them to the club at the next meeting). However, I am not putting a single piece of blame of missing Animazement on the club or its members, considering the fact that I was uncertain about if I can make it or not when the hotel rooms were reserved. Besides, the money that I saved for Animazement will most likely be used for the bigger (and more exciting) dealers' room at Otakon, which I'm 100% definitely going to no matter what (especially since I'm most likely going to commute back and forth to Balitmore some time later this summer).

Back to the anime club: today's meeting was different to the usual meeting. Yes, there was still the usual line-up with Witch Hunter Robin (with a nice cliffhanger for the final week that the club will watch the series) and Haibane. However, the club also viewed the final episode of Key the Metal Idol (which is one of the two movie-length episodes of the series) and the Japanese version of the Ring. While there was no Azumanga Guu Hour this meeting (this refers to an hour featuring Azumanga Daioh and Jungle Guu), there was still something that had the club going WTF: the OP and ED to Dear Boys, which looks like it's supposed to be the Initial D of basketball.

Finally, I bought the second .hack video game on Thursday. I've been playing it a while, and it's definitely harder than the original .hack video game.
  • The Month Ahead 2003-04-30 01:31:47 Looking ahead of what's happening next month:

FRIDAY: I have a pre-screening with a Technology and Work Force place in Baltimore. This will hopefully help me in finding what job I'd actually like.

NEXT WEEK: the second .hack video game comes out. I already have plans to sell two of my games for store credit when I do buy the game.

MAY 20: Poodle Hat comes out. Being the "Weird Al" fan that I am, I'm definitely buying that when it comes out. :)

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND: Animazement. I am interested in attending it with the anime club I'm with again this year. However, my main concern is getting a ride BACK HOME, as the guy I usually ride with is planning to spend a few extra days in NC after the convention. Hopefully, I can straighten things out and ensure it doesn't turn into another Dave & Buster's fiasco (i.e. getting the ride).

THROUGHOUT MAY: The next Utena DVD and the final DVD's of Berserk and Fruits Basket will be coming out. I'm likely going to buy Utena before the convention (if I have the money) and get the final Berserk and Fruits Basket DVD (as well as the 5th Berserk DVD) at Animazement.

Finally, there's one thing in June that interests me: the Otakon pre-screenings. Considering how much fun it was last year, I would like to attend another one this year. However, due to my own reasons, I'm uncertain if I'm going or not.
