JOURNAL: TnAdct1 (Joseph Klemm)

  • Xmas Morning 2002-12-25 09:37:19 Today is of course Christmas, which means getting gifts. While there were a few things on my list that I didn't get (bummer since I really need to replace my current coin sorter), I did get the DVD's and video games that I did have on my Xmas list. I also got a couple of Best Buy gift cards from my brothers, which is great considering I'm very likely going to stop at Best Buy either tomorrow or during my New Year's trip to Florida.

However, the big gift came in the form of a new computer system for the family. Technically, this is my parents computer, with me and my younger brother using it only when they are not using it. That's fine with me, since I'm currently okay with POSC (my nickname for the computer I usually use). Besides, the new computer won't be set up until after the Florida trip.

I've already have an idea of what DVD's to bring along for the trip (definitely take the DDR Project 2 and at least one DVD that I got for Xmas).

Tomorrow looks to be interesting with shopping, packing for the Florida trip, and a possible trip to Dave and Buster's tomorrow night.
  • 4 Days Until Xmas 2002-12-21 21:01:50 ...and I already am beginning to get stuff. This of course refers to the fact that my copy of the Iron Chef/DDR Project II DVD came in the mail today. I checked out the Iron Chef videos in the afternoon, then watched the DDR Project tonight. One thing's for sure: it was definitely worth the wait. Now if I can just my Newtype subscription to arrive at my house.

For Xmas, my family is staying up here for Maryland and then go down to Florida for New Year's. Personally, I'd rather prefer one thing or the other, not both (considering that Xmas break for the rest of the family is only for two weeks and I don't think I have time to do everything I want to do in both Maryland and Florida during that period).

Other than that, things are usual here in Maryland.
  • A Busy Day Before the Winter Snow Advisory 2002-12-10 21:20:53 My busy day actually began around midnight, as I downloaded two AMV's that appeared in the Drama category at AX 2002. I also downloaded a couple songs off Kazaa as well.

This afternoon, I went to a thrift store with my mother, and I found an old Captain Harlock VHS tape from the 1980's (a Family Home Entertainment release before the logo became the crayon-written letters). I picked up the copy, considering how I'm an anime fan. I have yet to view the tape yet. However, if the tape is in good viewing condition, I don't know if I'm going to keep it for myself or sell it on eBay.

Afterwards, mom and I went to pick up my younger brother from school, and then we stopped at the anime store that's near the school (and the closest anime store near me). My younger brother was looking for a controller for his Gamecube. However, they didn't have it and is told to call back on Friday. Meanwhile, I did my usual browsing and eventually decided on getting a soundtrack and the first two Hellsing DVD's (with me getting the volume 1 with the box and the blood bag).

Currently, I'm busy downloading a video from Kazaa. One thing's for sure: what I'm downloading is one thing that I've been waiting to see for years.

There's supposed to be a winter advisory for tomorrow. Thus, there's a chance that my younger brother will be staying home tomorrow. Oh well, that's life.
  • Black Friday and Broadband 2002-11-29 21:55:45 First off, the big news: I AM FINALLY ON BROADBAND. Today, my father and I went shopping at Best Buy and got the equipment needed to go online via cable. After my older brother set it up, I was ready to go online without using the phone line. Currently, I am downing an AMV to test how fast it can go, and considering that the download is going at a rate of 28k/sec, this is definitely going to be very effective in getting AMV's and possibly fan-subs.

Today, I also bought a micro hi-fi stereo in hopes of watching DVD's and AMV's in my room in stereo (the TV in my room is a mono). However, when I tried to turn it on, nothing happened. Thus, I am planning to return it tomorrow and get either a replacement or a refund.

It's definitely going to be interesting to download stuff now that I have broadband.
  • A Few Days Until Broadband 2002-11-24 21:43:59 Today, while playing some Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance, the screen began to fill with snow. I knew that this wasn't normal, and I knew that my PS2 wasn't breaking down. It's a few minutes later that I found out the good news: MY FAMILY IS FINALLY GETTING BROADBAND. So far, the broadband service is only in my older brother's room. However, my father has plans to make a network so that the broadband line will be throughout the house. That will be excellent, as this will mean I can finally download AMV's quicker (not to mention that I can finally download some fansubs). This will probably be a week or so before this happens. Thus, this gives me plenty of time to find a good AMV to download in order to test the broadband connection.
