The Wait is Finally Over...
2002-03-23 19:04:02
After receiving the machine almost a month ago and having to wait two weeks for it to be repaired, my local arcade (the Pocket Change at the St. Charles Town Center Mall in Waldorf, Maryland) finally has it's own DDR arcade machine. One thing that surprised was the fact that while the marque was for the 3rd Mix, the game on the screen was the 5th Mix. While it means that I can't show off the dance skills that I learned from playing the Playstation copy of 3rd Mix, I stll was able so show off just how good of an intermediate DDR player (can pass 4 foot stages) I am. As for popularity, there was a quarter line installed on the side of the screen so that way would-be players can get a spot to play DDR while watching the game.
Also at the mall, I picked up the Urusei Yatsura Volume 5 DVD. However, it may be until Monday before I start watching it, as tonight's Adult Swim and tomorrow is already scheduled with work in the morning, Anime Club in the afternoon (with the club planning to start Noir and one other show (possibly Comic Party) tomorrow), and the Oscars at night.
Speaking of Anime Club, if hkgooey is who I think it is, does this mean there's a few AMV's playing at the club tomorrow?

Hopefully Some of My Pressure is Gone
2002-03-21 20:27:03
There's a major discussion on animeondvd.com about whether the FLCL DVD's are being delayed or not. The way some posts are pointing, it looks like the FLCL DVD's re indeed being delayed. Thus, it probably takes some worry about looking for that DVD next week and fearing it would be sold out with me not getting one. BTW, while there, I read an early review of the Excel Saga DVD, and judging by what is said in the review, it looks like Excel Saga will be a "must-have" DVD title (which is already on my "must buy" list).
Also, I have worked out my AOL troubles and checked for viruses on my computer to ensure that this won't happen again. Thus, my account is back to normal.
Meanwhile, there's still the question about Animazement pre-reg (do I have to bring the postcard, and what if I forget it?) and the problem about two things I want to get coming out on two consecutive days, but feel I can only make one mall trip within that period. Not the mention the fact that I still have to attend the hell known as Wal-Mart orientation again (yes, it's THAT bad).
BTW, I think I know the reason why Hsien was swearing (bummer, no Duke vs. Maryland final).

A Frustrating Period
2002-03-21 10:13:18
The last few days have has a few this that are somewhat nagging me:
1. Monday, I got my confirmation for my pre-reg at Animazement. The confirmation postcard that I've received tells me to bring it with me to get my badge at the convention. The part that I'm worried about is that since this is my first Animazement, I don't know what would happen if I forgot to bring the postcard.
2. Supposedly, FLCL is finally coming out on DVD America wise next week. I definitely plan on buying it, however the problem is that yesterday I spent some money buying the DDRMAX soundtrack. Considering that I don't get paid until Wednesday, I'm a little nervous that if it does come out next Tuesday, it would be sold out within a day and that I'd miss buying it because I was short of money (though I could always cash in some rolled coins).
3. I just realized last night that two things that I have on my "buy" list next month (Love Hina Volume 2 DVD and DDR Konamix) are being released within a two day period (Love Hina on Tuesday, DDR on Wednesday). However, I want to limit my mall trip to just once a week. Thus, like the FLCL DVD, I'm a little nervous that the Love Hina DVD will sell out within a day that I missed it because I waited an extra day to pick up DDR.
4. Somehow, my little brother installed a virus on his AOL name under the account that I use. Thus, the account was completely screwed up, and my mother had to return home to square things aways.
On the bright side, I'm possibly going to start part-time at Wal-Mart soon, thus I will be able to have a lot of money for myself an anime conventions.

It's Been a While...
2002-03-13 20:54:34
So, I might as well touch up on some of the things that's been going on since Feburary.
I've sent my pre-registration form to Animazement, and I'm currently waiting for a note saying that my preregistration came through (unlike Neko-Con, the proof won't involve a shirt). Speaking of Neko-Con, I'm probably going to pregister for that soon, as my mother suggests pre-registering at the cheapest rate for that one. As for the last main convention I currently plan on attending this year, Otakon, considering last year, I'm probably going to the same thing I did last year and register on-site (got through it quicker than most of the pre-registered guys, and this happened on Friday morning).
AMV wise, my current download interest is Scott Melzer's latest videos (BTW does anyone else have a small sound problem in the middle of the All-Star video). As for recent downloads, I'm downloaded two of the latest Aluminum Studios videos and Lostboy's the Pony Man.
At the anime club, the club finished up watching Excel Saga (episode 26 being the best final episode ever), Read or Die, and Angelic Layer. The club is probably going to start Noir soon and possibly one other anime, as Inu-Yasha isn't that popular in the club (only three people watched it the last it it played, and one of the viewers (yours truly) wasn't that impressed). Meanwhile, Initial D and Love Hina continue to be enjoyable programming. Also, I'm currently renting Flame of Recca from my anime club's library, and from the first three episodes, it definitely shows some promise.
Money wise, I'm currently my mother with eBay. As practice for a job in scanning, I'm currently scanning Hallmark ornaments (a hobby that I help Mom with) and writing up information about them during my free time. As for current rates, my mother is paying me about $10/hour to do this.
Finally, about the new anime on CN: Yuu Yuu Hakusho is definitely interesting (I'm currently waiting for the real fun to begin), and Gundam 0083 would probably have me watching it the first go-round. However when it comes to Pilot Candidate, I personally am not that impressed by it and am very likely going to skip it when it airs on Adult Swim.

Post Katsucon Journal Entry
2002-02-21 09:57:04
First off, it is kind of rough that I'm currently suffering from the flu (hopefully will feel better come Sunday). However, on the bright side, at least I wasn't sick for Katsucon.
Like most conventions, I checked out the web pages for Katsucon 8 pictures (and kept a log of all the anime/video game characters that I recognized). So far, not that many sites have pictures, though there'd probably be more by the end of the week.
Post Katsucon period was also a major AMV download peroid as in the last four days, I downloaded Kusoyaro's Katsucon video, both of Victor Boruta's Katsucon videos, and Lee Thompson's "The Fall" video.
That pretty much describes what I've been doing since Katsucon. Now, I need to save up some money for Animazement and for other things (more anime DVD's, DDR Konamix).
