T-Minus 1 Day, 19 Hours Until Departure.
2001-12-20 13:06:09
Two days left until my trip to Melbourne, Florida for Xmas, and for those people planning on attending the convention next month, it is definitely a fun place for Otakus (two video game stores that sell import games [at last visit], an anime store, a comic book store with anime rentals, etc.). Anyway, though there's still some uncertainty about my grandparents living with us, most of my anxiety is at a minimum level for now.
I moved in to my new room last night and I slept without that much trouble. While there is no computer in my new room, there is a TV, which means I can lay down and watch some anime or some AMV's on tape before dozing off.
As for the computer that was in my old room (aka the main computer), my father moved it downstairs in the main video game room. Despite some wiring trouble with the speakers and the modem, Dad and I was able to get the computer to work.
Speaking of computer, my dad is bringing his laptop down for the trip, which is great since I can use that to go online. While I can also use it to view my AMV collection and a few DVD's (i.e. looking at the DVD-Rom features on the Utena movie DVD) for the trip ride down, my main purpose for the computer will be for online with no plans whatsoever to download any AMV's while I'm down there (besides, AMV wise, I'd be more busy looking for a 740 MB disc so I can finally get a copy of the DDR Project video).
Well, that's pretty much my day for now, with tomorrow being a packing day (some anime tapes, DVD's, and books; DDR gear (and a Playstation to mod chip); PS2 gear; and the usual stuff).

Three Days Until Xmas Vacation
2001-12-19 12:40:21
As the title says, I have three more days until my Xmas vacation in Florida.
Usually, I would be happy about going down to Florida to visit my grandparents (and I do have some ideas of what to do when I get down there (mod chip my Playstation, visit the local import game store and anime store, etc.)). However, this year I hoping that something will happen that will prevent my family from going down to Florida. The reason: my parents are convinced on bringing my grandparents back up to Maryland this year.
The problem has nothing to do with me living with my grandparents (after all, I lived with them in Florida for the first half of the year). Rather, it's more linked to the fact that we're dealing with a smaller living space here. Sure, when I was down in Florida, I had my own side of the house. However, in Maryland, I will have to share a kitchen, a bathroom, and some other rooms with my grandparents, along with having to keep my fun attitude down. I personally don't think this plan will work, however my parents are still going ahead with it and have already moved me out of my room.
Despite my gripes against the idea of going to Florida this year, I still will post the details of my trip on amv.org.

Another Week Winding Down...
2001-12-07 13:13:27
The last four days were a busy time for me.
For starters, I checked out the AWA Pro Tape on Monday (was able to get a copy of it the otaku way [provide tape, not money]). There's a lot of good stuff on it IMO. I definitely enjoyed the Best Video nominees that were on the tape (with me looping Odorikuruu [BEST VIDEO EVER!!!] and Love Rollercoaster). Personally, I was surprised that I'd like the Fall, as I am not a Drama video watcher. There were also some funny videos on the tape in the form of Rawhide to Trigun, Star Trekkin' to Nadesico (I saw it at Neko-Con, and it was hilarious), the Tenchi/He-Man video, and Doki Doki's WWF/DiGi Charat video (when will it be downloadable?). Finally, I think I found the AWA Pro Contest equivelent to One Day More and Love is Flowers in the form of Last Stop This Town to Vampire Hunter D (three words: lip syncing hand).
I took part in the Toonami New Year's Eve-il poll. While I have a feeling that the winner will be a Dragon Ball Z villain (stupid wannabe fans who've only seen Akira and DBZ and can't stop talking about how Goku can kick everyone's butt), I personally voted for Char (from the original Gundam series). Come on, the DBZ bad guys may be cool to DBZ fans, but when it comes to anime, they can't top Char.
Finally, I decided not to wait until Florida and picked up the first 2-Disc DVD set of Saber Marionette J, yesterday. Upon watching it, the DVD's finally confirmed one thing that has been on my mind since Neko-Con, and this comment is from a person whose main list of cute anime girls (until yesterday) consisted of just Dejiko and Puchiko: CHERRY IS ONE OF THE CUTEST GIRLS IN ANIME. In fact, I've seen episode 4 (the one where Cherry scripts a kidnapping in order to make Otaru a hero) at least 4 times during the last 24-hour period. As for the other characters, I also like Lime (childlike, innocent, and at times very funny) and Otaru's neighbor/best friend/"soulmate". Looks like I've found another show to work on getting.
Well, that's my last four days in retrospect. I'm still waiting for my DiGi Charat fansub tapes to arrive. And E.K.: Thanks for the compliment at rec.arts.anime.misc. I agree that Kusoyaro makes some good videos (personally like With Every Light) and that there's some good ones with Slayers/Boom and Cowboy Bebop/You Don't Know (I HATE HARMONICAS!). As for Doki Doki, he also is a great AMV maker (Besides SOS and Right Now, my regular AMV watching includes his Operator video).
I guess I should wait until the end to say good-bye. :)

Today at Anime Club....
2001-12-02 19:32:56
I went to anime club today. Here's some comments about my trip.
Basically, today's anime showing consisted of the same stuff as last time (Initial D, Angelic Layer, Love Hina). The club planned to start Noir today, yet due to the person with Noir bringing the wrong disc, that would be postponed for next meeting, with the crew watching another Intial D episode instead.
During one of the breaks, the club watched some AMV's, with the videos being played included Love is Flowers (huge laughs for the digital nipples), Odorikuruu (after that was shown, someone asked where to download it), and Duane Johnson's Particle Man video. Also during that break, we saw a little bit of Final Fantasy Unlimited. One thing to say: expect some freakiness thanks to the victory music being part of the show's soundtrack and the ED with the Chocobos.
While at the meeting, I asked some members if I should check out Saber Marionette J, as I'm currently thinking about buying it during my Xmas vacation in Florida (I'm not buying it now, as I'm saving up for the holidays). Not only did the members reccommend it, as well as saying to buy it instead of Utena (due to the Utena series not yet fully available in the USA), but one member mentioned about how the members of the club occassionally teased its founder about how he liked Cherry. Interesting enough, of the pictures and descriptions of the Saber Marionette girls that I've seen (have yet to seen the episodes), I'm personally beginning to like Cherry myself.
Well, with some AMV's to watch and some DiGi Charat fansubs hopefully arriving in the mail, I'll be busy for a while, thus not having to worry about spending before Xmas.

Another Saturday Night...
2001-11-24 19:26:02
...and I have nowehere to go to.
I have gotten into Capcom vs. SNK 2, one of the video games that I bought yesterday, and find it interesting, especially the custom color mode. One thing that I would like to do is to do it so that the fighters resemble anime characters (definitely want to do Sakura in the shades of either Utena or DiGi Charat). For now, the only anime-related custom costumes that I did have Akuma as Goku and Sakura as Hikaru (from Rayearth). I definitely need to experiment here.
Meanwhile, I began watching the Sorcerer Hunters DVD that I got yesterday. Judging by the first three episodes, it looks like it may be a series that I should work on when it comes to getting anime on DVD.
That pretty much sums up my day.
