Three Days Until Katsucon
2004-02-10 21:27:35
My first anime convention of 2004 is just three days away. Like most conventions, I have a little bit of anxiety inside of me (i.e. the schedule for Saturday and my interest of seeing the AMV contest). However, considering most of the cons that I've attended, I'm sure that everything will turn out just fine.
Today, during my weekly mall trip, I picked the second volume of MegaTokyo. I now have some idea of some of the things that's going on in the story (i.e. who each girl is, the deal with Ed when it comes to his interest in Ping and his plastic surgery). Of course, Largo and Boo are still the main scene stealers in the comic.
Finally, about the main thing that people are talking about today: Am I upset that the DVD release of the Star Wars Trilogy is only going to be Special Edition? Somewhat, as I, like everyone else, would have liked to have seen the original versions on the DVD as well. Am I upset that there's going to be only one disc of supplemental stuff? Somewhat, after all, I'm a person who would like to see a lot of good content on the discs (i.e. the trailers for each film throughout the years, the original "making of" specials), although I still don't know what will be on the supplemental DVDs and the DVDs that contain each film? Will I still buy the set despite this: HECK YEAH!!! I grew up with Star Wars, and despite the problems that the upcoming DVD's have, I'm still going to buy the set (and (like I did with Tron and Monty Python and the Holy Grail) probably sell it if a better set comes out after Episode Three comes out),.

AMV Viewer's Choice Nominations Comments
2004-01-31 21:35:10
With the nomination process of the AnimeMusicVideos.org Viewer's Choice Awards ending in a couple of hours, it's about time that I shared my comments concerning the nomination process:
-Nomination wise, these videos are the top 5 videos that I've given nomination consideration to:
Anger Management
Euphoria
Obligatory EVA Trailer
Playground Love
Stop the Rock?
-Considering how I'm somewhat picky at what I download (sticking towards videos that either played at conventions that I've attended or from the "Big 3" conventions), most of my nominations came from videos from either Anime Expo, Otakon, or AWA. However, I did nominate at least one video from Katsucon and Anime USA. Also, I nominated some videos whose popularity came from this site rather than the big conventions (i.e. Storytelling - A Gothic Fairytale).
-In categories for the videos, the one that I gave the most nominations to is Best Fun Video (as there were a lot of fun videos out this year). Meanwhile, the one that I gave the least amount of nominees to was the Best First Video (again probably due to my pickyness in downloads).

A Busy Afternoon
2004-01-28 23:55:17
My afternoon sure was a busy one today.
First off, I went to my local Blockbuster to return some video games that I've rented. I also checked to see if there were any copies of Sonic Heroes available to rent. Sadly, all the copies were checked out.
My next stop was the Best Buy that opened near my mall last November. There, using my gift certificate (which I ended up not spending while in Florida), I bought the second Abenobashi DVD and a GameDoctor disc cleaner in hopes that it will fix a couple of brief freezes that happens on one of my DVD's (nothing serious, as the freezes only last a second before the DVD resumes playing, although I'm worried that it may have been the cause of some computer problems at an anime club meeting a few days ago).
After Best Buy, I made my weekly trip to the local mall. As a job fo my brother, I bought Magic: The Gathering Battleground (or whatever it's called) for the PC. Then, I checked Sam Goody to see if the store carried a CD containing music by Meco (I heard Meco's version of the various tunes from the Wizard of Oz last week when I was at Toys 'R Us with my mother). Sadly, the store didn't carry any Meco CD's. So instead, I went to Suncoast and picked up the 2-disc Alice in Wonderland DVD (I'm a fan of special features).
After meeting up with my mother, we ended up stopping at three different McDonald's. My mom has become a fan of the new Philly Cheesesteak sandwich that McD's is offering, and she was hungry for one. Unfotunately, the one at my mall didn't offer it. So she drove to two more McDonald's in order to find one that offers it.
After returning home and going on the Internet, I immediately went to cleaning the disc that I bought the GameDoctor for. After cleaning the disc, I found out that the brief pauses were still on the disc. Thus, I have a feeling that the problem involves the authoring of the disc, although I'm don't have any plans on returning the disc.
Finally, I received some Battle Athletes DVD's in the mail today. Unfortunately, the first BAV DVD had scratches on it due to the box being broken. Thus, I ended up taking out the DiscDoctor again and used it to get rid of the scratches that were on the DVD. Then, that night, I found a box to replace the broken one so that way I don't have to worry about any more scratches.

Florida Trip Days 1 & 2
2003-12-27 21:13:54
FRIDAY:
Due to my father needing to sleep a little bit longer, my family left for Florida later than usual (as in quarter to 10). However, some major time was made up by simplying getting lunch and eating it on the road rather than eating at the restaurant. Thus, my family arrived at the hotel around 7:30. After settling in, we stopped at Cracker Barrel for dinner, then returned to the hotel for the night. That night, I had a rough time sleeping due to a stuffy nose.
SATURDAY:
The morning stopped with my mother and I going to the local to get some medicine and deodorant for me as well as a few snacks for the family. After returning to the hotel, my family packed up and got back on the road to Florida. Around 2:00, we made it to one of the annual highlights of the car ride to and from Florida: the Daytona Flea Market. There, traded in some video games at the flea market's video game place and bought Space Channel 5: Special Edition and Zelda: The Wind Waker. Meanwhile, my younger brother, who likes weapons and lighters, bought a sword and a knife at the flea market. Around 4:30, we made it to Grandma's house and settled in. That night, my mother took my younger brother and I to Best Buy and Barnes and Noble. At Best Buy, while I decided to wait until next week to use the gift cerficicate my older brother gave me, my younger brother got the X movie and Weiss Kreuz on DVD. Then at Barnes and Noble, along with "Books on CD" of the entire Lord of the Rings series and a Thomas the Tank Engime train (my mother is currently into that), my younger brother and I got some manga (I have a hard time remembering what my younger brother got, but I do remember that I got Saber Marionette J).
