It is done!
2007-06-17 22:09:46
Well, its finally done, Heroes of Anime. I used mutliple DVDs, had to re-rip all of them since my data is all gone from my previous harddrive, but I am pleased with the quality and way the video turned out. I checked and it can be downloaded now, I hope you all enjoy!

Screaming towards the finish line
2007-06-17 04:38:45
I've been working on the video, which is nearing completion. Our company had to stay in the field for a day or two which kind of threw my schedule out of whack, however, I currently have about 20 seconds of the vid left to finish.
Right now I'm actually racing against the clock because on Saturday the 23rd, I go home on leave until July 7th, this is a great thing, however, I won't be near my computer which incidentally enough contains all the things I use to make AMVs, so basically, if I don't get this video out the door before then, it won't be done until after July 7th.
I would have been done sooner, but I went back over some of the earlier sections and tweaked this and redid that. I moved some clips around that I thought fit later in the video and ones that worked sooner. Overall I'm pleased with the style and composition of the vid and I am rapidly getting excited to see how many people like it and which of you don't. I always view AMVs as a learning process and see myself constantly striving to get better at them.
Each video that I make is slightly better in terms of quality, editing, etc and while I'll never win a contest with anything I make, if I make people enjoy the damned thing, then I succeeded.

It has begun!
2007-05-21 00:51:57
At last after all the time spent waiting, I finally have begun a new AMV. You can imagine how difficult an undertaking this was due to the fact that for awhile my computer was broken. Right now the files I used to use to use are on an old harddrive and inaccessable at the moment, so I've been re-ripping DVDs for the past day or two and editing them. Currently I've got about the first minute and a half of the video complete out of a roughly 4 minute song. Of course, I will be tweaking and editing that first minute and a half over and over.
I'm excited because at first I was a little wary about doing it, but after getting started, I've gotten more and more excited about it. The fact that I've been re-ripping my DVDs means that I should be able to have max quality on all of the clips in the video.
The video I suppose you can say is a "compliation" of various animes and their heroes and I cannot wait to see it completed. I'm not sure when I'll get it done but it probably won't be until next week due to my schedule this week, but hopefully by this time next week it will be up for download after I screen it to a few people and make adjusment after adjustment. But yes, it is official More Better Studios has returned!

The Long Road
2007-01-07 00:46:51
Well, I'm not only back in the states, but I finally got my internet hooked back up along with my computer. I have all sorts of new Anime DVDs to work with and I'm really looking forward to working on a new AMV. It's wierd how much things have changed, especially here. Alot of people that made AMVs when I started no longer do and many newer people have churned out some awesome vids that I could never hope to match.
Even Rob Kenchu, the other half of More Better Studios has not made a video in some time, saying that he wasn't inspired by anything or that most ideas had been done to death.
Rob has been making videos as long as I have, our first videos literally came into existence roughly late 1999 to early 2000. They were shitty Dragonball Z vids, cobbled together from other just as shitty AMVs because we didn't have the means of ripping DVDs at the time. We were so immensly proud of those videos back then. Only today do we look back at them, much like a hungover person looks back on their previous evening of debauchery and say, "What the hell was I thinking?"
The fact that Rob doesn't make AMVs anymore is saddening to me. I enjoyed Rob's AMVs and he enjoyed mine. Rob is my first beta tester if you will, I send rough videos to him that he helps me go over, it's odd to think that I won't be doing the same for him anymore.
I don't know how long I'll make AMVs for, after all its a thankless hobby, but damnit all its a hobby and we all need one don't we?
Anyway, it's been a long road and I look foward to continuing down it.
Join me won't you?

My last patrol
2006-11-05 18:08:09
We are not too far away from leaving (not allowed to give exact dates) but due to the way our schedule works, the squad I'm attached to just had our last patrol in sector today (Barring a severe problem in sector that requires our presence).
To summarize the patrol, uneventful until near the end when some dumb bastard NPs decided to shoot down the street and I had a round whizz over my head. That same "shoot out" the NPs accidentally shot and killed a woman on the street.
It felt wierd knowing that this would probably be the last time I would be out in sector. Seeing those same buildings that I've looked at for almost an entire year. Wondering whether or not some guy with a Dragonov was looking at my head through a scope. Or thinking that maybe THIS trash pile was the one that had an EFP or IED in it.
Part of me will almost miss the place, its wierd I know, but this is literally all that I've known since December of last year. I loathe Iraq, HATE IT. But some wierd part of me will miss it.
When we were awarded our CIBs our Platoon Sergeant gathered us together and told us what I have quoted below, I actually remember almost verbatim what he said.
"For those of you who've done nothing in your lives to be proud of, look over there at our battalion guidon. We are the second most highly decorated unit currently active. The most decorated being the 187th and they only got us beat by one or two ribbons. When we get back a new ribbon will be added to our flag, a ribbon that you all helped this unit earn. If you've got nothing else to be proud of, be proud of that. You have forever etched your name in the history of the 506th."
