Just watched Robotech the Shadow Chronicles. Now for something just made in the last 10 years EVERYTHING about it just seemed... out of date. Dub was all right if not dumbed down just a bit, but the animation! I've seen better... Cowboy Bebop has WAY better animation and that came nearly 20 years before!! And the sound effects. They got something right, on current games, how they talk about the rifles in Counterstrike compair to the ones in Modern Warfare, the newer ones, same gun, they just sound right! Well personally I have no idea what a raygun sounds like but WHY DO THESE SOUND LIKE 'PEW PEW PEW!' STAR WARS!! I swear their like FIRE THE MAIN CANNON and it's like ~ZAP~ IMO a main cannon should sound like KABOOM!!! or KAZAP. Seriously. I'm a big Robotech fan and I LOVE the story but it's really nothing more than all the old ones molded differently. Sure Macross does that too but it seems at least a little new every time (except for Frontier... wich was intentionally rehashed). In many ways I was better off not seeing it. Oh no singing this time, though 'singing' has never been the focus in Robotech as it is in Macross anyway.
I actually loved the darn thing, it's a love/ hate relationship. I'm a fan to the bone though... I prefer the singing (well animated) one :| perhaps they purposely made it look like Macross Dynamite... acturally without seeing Dynamite I think it IS Macross Dynamite just as Robotech Macross saga is the original. Yeah I think it is cept they took the stupid singing parts out. OK that explains it nevermind. But why did they not update the animation (though widescreen is great!)? I knew I had a sneaky feeling I knew what was gonna happen by reading series synopsis' of Dynamite :x. I git a few eps into Dynamite and every battle seemed to HINGE on a song, I mean they'd teleprompt them in the midst of battle it was SO DUMB.
