JOURNAL: MeriC (Meri Cantoni)

  • Killer instinct tells her to / beware of evil men 2003-06-06 14:06:46 At work now... this is friggin' awesome. Got some speakers hooked up to the compy so we can listen to some 'net radio as we do some webbie grunt work. Switching bewteen a punk station and a DDR music station (what a variety, eh?)... anywho, just now, the song I used for my Otakon video just popped on in the punk station. So trippy! In the first place, it isn't exactly a well-known song by a well known band, so I wasn't expecting to hear it at all. But, it did brighten up my afternoon hearing it! Hmm.. I hope I didn't just give out *too* many hints regarding my vid. :P

What's weird is that every time I finish a new video, and I happen to hear the song at some point, my brain goes all into wonky mode and the video just plays in my head. What's even odder is the fact that this particular video idea was pretty solid in terms of what scenes to use before I even made the dang thing. So now that it's actually done, when it plays in my head... it's not to different from what I originally envisioned. I do so enjoy it when that happens. Sadly, it's hella rare.

On the current AMV front, progress on my DDR track, Walkie Talkie, has finally switched into high gear. I am SO much more happy with this video that I am with "Smoke" (sorry, Mike!). I'm using "Kodomo no Omocha" as mu source footage, and boy oh boy, is it hyper. Which is perfect. Muwahaha! I have arguably one of the most annoying and bad songs in the entire DDR3 project, but I picked it because I knew "Kodocha" would be a good fit, with lots of colors and dancing. So far, it's shaping up to be a cheesy, cute, fun, dance track. I can't wait to see what other people are gonna produce in the coming months.

Enough of this break, back to the grunt work. :)
  • Speeling is cool 2003-06-05 09:39:55 I typically don't like to bitch about what people say about AMVs, but I've been getting reviews from this one kid on several of my videos lately that are downright hilarious. To quote from a few:

"Bad point: I dont like how you did it " (hmm... vague much?)

    "doesnt make any sense" (Wuzzat?)

"Bad point: way to short " (Because I can control the length of the song and all...)

(regarding an instrumental song): "Bad point: The song has no words" (HA! I shit you not)

"Bad point: no "kamahamaha's" (ah yes, all AMVs should be held to this standard. Keep in mind, this is in regards to a DBZ video I made in which no featured characters can even DO Kamehamehas. :P )

Not that I don't appreciate people checking out my stuff and leaving feedback, but these reviews just cracked me up. And now my head hurts. Time to work on my DDR track. I hope it won't confuse people!
  • Wow, do I feel old. 2003-05-23 15:58:56 I finally graudated college yesterday. Whoa, scary stuff! Actually, I had a graduation Wednesday specifically for SCILS (the school IT is a part of), and yesterday was my "official" graduation from Douglass College of Rutgers. That's kinda confusing, that I'm affiliated with 2 schools in one university. Anywho, I graduated with honors in my major (Information Technology and Informatics) where all students in SCILS received... a pen! Umm. yippie! Nah, it's kinda cool, I supposed. The class of 2003 was the first graduating class for the IT major, which is spiffy! There were only 81 of us in the IT major, as opposed a few hundred in Journalism and Communication, the other majors of the SCILS department.

The ceremony for SCILS was far better than my actual Douglass graduation. It rained yesterday morning, leaving everything muddy. For some ungodly reason, the Douglass convocation was still held outside. Since Douglass is the all-girls college of Rutgers, I got to put up with annoying women bitch about every little thing during the ceremony. If there's one thing I learned from the all-women's college these last four years, it's that I hate women. What annoying creatures... *ahem*. So yeah, nice, wet, muddy, and cold graduation. Very memorable.

Despite having to put with my insane relatives on my mom's side of the family, this has been a good last 2 days. Mike even got me flowers, so I was all like, woooo dreamy! I don't feel like a college graduate, but I'm sure it'll sink in once I start job hunting and I realize the job market sucks and no one will be able to hire me and I won't be making money and then I'll go poor and end up on the streets and what a waste of a life it'll be. And stuff.

On to happier things, my Otakon submission video is just about done. Took a break from it today to fart around playing games and unwind... I'll probably get back to work on it tomorrow. Not that I have much choice, seeing as how it's due in a week. Mike's video is coming along nicely, as well. Hella depressing stuff, that's all I'll say. Ja for now~.

  • You cannot wait to download 2003-04-15 21:15:15 w00t, new music video is online, both locally and as a direct link. OK, so technically, it ain't new, but rather, a remake of "These Girls Are Crazy" (Cowboy Bebop) from 2001. What's new? Ripped-DVD footage = better quality, tighter timing, brand new cheesy effects (if I can even call 'em that...), and not-as-sucky lip-synching, as well as several scene changes. Enjoy!

  • Heh, wasting time! 2003-04-02 12:47:41 I am currently in a class that I'm sure all of you out there would just die to take. It's called HCI, or Human-Computer Interaction.

Right now, we're being taught how to use...

    Adobe Premiere.

    HAH!!!

Wow, I should cut class. :P

Anyway, after we get "taught" how to use Premiere, we have to evaluate the program by going in to a usability lab (ya know, those rooms with 2-way mirrors, hidden video cameras, microphone), fine 2 volunteers, and video-tape them using Premiere for an hour, and see how they react.

I shit you know, this is a project for a class I'm taking.

    best. project. ever.

I'll keep you posted how this evaluation of Premiere goes. It'll be especially funny out of my usual AMV-making context.

And, may as well jump on the bandwagon of what everyone else is talking about. Koop's new video is the shiznit. Highly impressive, AND with a story. 2-in-1 sale!
