  • Happy April Fools! 2002-04-01 07:39:41 Muwahahaha, just uploaded my April Fool's joke to my site. If anyone out there knows the history of Dragonball: Final Bout, or the state of the DB online community (and I doubt you do), then you should appreciate this gag:

I think I liked my April Fool's joke for 2001 a lot more:

  • Just another day in silly girl land 2002-03-28 20:51:28 Ahh, spring break has come and gone. I can safely say it was desperately needed. Sadly, all the things I wanted to get done, I didn't do. But, upon taking my dad's advice of "do whatever your body and mind is telling you to do," I put aside all the work and did some much needed chilling. First and foremore, I spent some mad good downtime with mah man, since at school, there's almost always someone else around with us *cough*, so we finally had some time to ourselves. Got caught up on some DDR, although not as much as I would have liked. I think I played maybe 2 times over break. The big exception, however, was the party my sis and I held at out house last Sunday. Mike was kind enough to set up his DDR dance pads at our house, and it was the hit of the party, amazingly enough. Some people had to be pressured into playing, but it was all good in the end. One productive thing I did do over spring break was fix all the shit that was going on with my car, and my dad treated my car to a car wash, since it hit 100,000 miles. It's been such a good lil' car! It hasn't broken down one in the 4 years I've had it (and it's a 1994 model). I only ever got 2 flat tires, and a broken fan belt and that's all. Pretty spiffy.

Ya think that over spring break, I'd have the brains to do web/computer work: start a new video, actually work on my site, get cracking on AMV reviews. Sadly, I wasn't too keen on doing any of those. The mind set just wasn't there, and I wasn't about to do something half assed. The funny thing, though, is that it took *all* of my spring break to come up with an AMV idea that I liked.

That said, I'm really glad that I've finally started working on a new music video. I've got 17 seconds done so far...and in terms of it's craziness, so far it looks insane compared to my Utena one. And that's saying a lot. This video will be the death of me. Problem is, I don't see this as being something I'd wanna send to a convention. This is most definately a video I'm making for myself, not to please others, and it's an idea I just wanna go and run with. And that's a bad thing, kinda sorta, seeing as how summer cons are coming up, and I *should* be working on something for those. Who knows, maybe I'll end up doing something with this.

's funny, today in my Cyberlit class, we were discussing Web Blogs. How odd is it that now after that class, I decided to write in this journal. I think the discussion gave me some ideas. ^^ Speaking of that Cyberlit class, my teacher finished off the Lain DVDs I lent him, and he loved it. Every class, he'd beg for more, like he was on a bad crack habit. In any case, my mission was a success. Now that he sees how much it is relevant to this course, he's gonna let me use Lain for my final project, and wants to show it next year for this class!! Yes! I knew I could get him to do it! He cannot resist my power of persuasion...oooooo...

Hmm...Thursdays aren't as sucky as I used to think. I actually get writing crap like this done. :p Well, I'm gonna see if I have enough motivation to do another grueling 5 seconds of my nutty video. Tiime to go hunt down some caffiene.
  • Happy super mega hyper fun time hour 2002-03-11 17:37:51 Living in Central New Jersey officially kicks ass. I just came to this realization this weekend. Sure, I complain about how boring it can be at times, but it occurred to me how many resources I have here at my disposal.

First, there's the music. The pop punk scene in NJ is top notch, and there usually some good shows going on. Case in point, the Asbury Park Surf and Skate Fest coming up in April. Three days of acts, and at least 10 groups per day. *droooool* And to think that just last year, the first year this thing, as just one day. Must be pretty big, and it's in NJ!

Next is the location. Half-way between NY and Philly is spiffy-ness, and convenient!

Then, is the AMV resources available. I'm talking human resources, baby. There seems like there's lots of people in this area who are all into making AMVs. It's great when we can get together to help each other out, collaborate, and share ideas. Like this weekend, VegettoEX (Mike) and I helped Scott make MPEGs of his videos, and now they're online for download! *end shameless plug for Scott* Speaking of Scott, I'm so glad to know people like him. For the first time, I feel like I have someone I can call something of a mentor. *goes into gushy mode* So, thanks Scott! You da man!

Next up, the anime! There's a large fanbase here, even in Rutgers, it's amazing. The anime club is spiffy, and I think there's a bunch of anime fans that won't come out of the closet. There are a bunch of frat fliers around campus with Kenshin on it. I love walking around seeing random pics of dat cutie. :P Hell, even in my classes this semester, anime is playing a big role! Like I said in my last entry, I showed my english teacher Lain, and we talked about EVA and Ghost in the Shell. Well, there's more! in my Paris/Tokyo history class....we watch Kenshin. Hells yeah baby. I mean, *ahem* yeah, for educational purposes. Still, it's great that anime is being applied to our studies in this class. And then, when the teacher asks who has seen Kenshin, I go into geek mode and happily expressed mah love for the show.

So, that's my happy reflection on where I live. It'll never happen again, I swear.
  • New video up 2002-03-08 14:05:12 Got my Katsucon/Megacon music video up for download! It's Utena to the dance song "Castles in the Sky," by Ian van Dahl. The name of my video is called "Liberation of Memories Past." Be there or be square!

  • Ah yes, turn to my side! 2002-03-07 17:28:02 Heheh, today my Lit. and Scientific Writings class (aka; Cyberlit) just ruled. The teacher in that class, who also happens to be one of my bosses, is a quasi-anime fan. He tries so hard, but just watching stuff on Cartoon Network don't make ya an otaku. :P Sooo, since the class is about the cyber-world, and literature on the web, I decided to lend my teacher (Barclay) my Lain DVDs. I gave him Vol. 1 on Tuesday, and today at the beginning of class, he comes of to me and Mike to tell us that he's already hooked, and wants Vol. 2! Good thing Mike had my copy of Vol 2 with him to lend him. He even already went and downloaded the theme songs (and its many variations) off of Morpheus. Ahhh, whatta cool teacher he is! Now he get into some real anime (and stop going on about how coooool Ghost in the Shell is)! I swear, if I can convince this man to make an anime-based lit. class (and trust me, the idea is already in his head), that would rule. Today, however, we did incorporate some anime into our discussion of some cyberpunk books (like, father issues in Evangelion, uhh...that was pretty much it, heh). Still, I like the fact that anime has a presence in this course. Hopefully, showing my teacher Lain will sway him into my eeevil plans!

Yesterday, our pal Jon Miller came over to Mike's dorm. Well, we found out that we're getting a panel (most likely) for Shoujocon, aiyyaa! This'll be my first time ever doing anything at a con, in terms of volunteering, or helping to run a panel, but I'm excited, and already got some ideas on how to present AMV stuff. Thank god Scott'll be doing it to. By then, he'll already have experience with his Port Maine convention panel thang. Aaaand speaking of Shoujocon, I think Jon and I are gonna do a video together, cuz oddly enough, we have the same exact idea for the same song and anime. Creepy, neh? I'm gonna send my Utena video to Shoujocon as an exhibition video, while for the actual contest, I'll just go and make a new video. Remember kiddies, it's *wrong* to send winning videos to multiple cons! Not fair, not cool! I'll probably be stressed out, but, I'm in the mood for making a new video for the occasion. Gah, also gotta make a totally new one for Otakon, as well.

While I'm on the subject of my Utena video, I'll be uploading it tonight at the computer lab when mah boy gets back from his silly Comp. Sci. midterm, and will most likely post it on the AMV site tonight, or tomorrow, whenever I can muster up enough courage to write up the description for it. Remember, "Liberation of Memories Past," to Utena. You WANT to download it, you WANT to see it! Heheh, OK, I'm outtie here.
