  • The schooltime adventures of Rellik and DB... 2005-03-04 08:34:43 Okay, so check it:
    No.. Wait.. First this:
    I have decided to post more in my journal, and the posts are not going to be as useless as the posts below the "And that's what friends are for..." entry. Nope I have decided to do it in a kinda story writing way.. So the posts are going to be longer (I'll TRY AVOIDING them being TOO LONG). I am seriously having a go at people adding me to their journal buddy list (if you add me plz tell me about it :P).

    Okay, so now go check it:
    I'm sitting in front of the TV at school during recess.
    I'm all nice and cousy with my pillow made bed.

    So Rellik walks by, steps up the platform and...
    Rellik: *Pulls pillow*
    Pillow: "Swipe"
    Me: "ACK!"
    Rellik: *Takes pillow with him and begins building his own bed with several other pillows*
    DB: *Gets up and picks up a beanbag (way smaller version of the fatboy)*

    So I walk up to Rellik and...
    Pillow: *Fly.... --> SMACK*
    Rellik: "OOMPH!" *Rellik falls down the platform crying in pain*
    Me: "Uncontrollable laughter"
    Rellik: *Crawls back on the platform, and crawls around in agony a bit more*
    DB: "That felt good, sorry bro couldn't resist XD Besides, you stole my pillow :P"
    Rellik: "Well, your aiming is good, I though you went for my head, but you got them...."
    DB: "Sorry mate!"
    Rellik:"You know, it's only cause your jealous at my AMV skills..."
    DB: "Yeah.... Your probably right LOL"
    Rellik: "Yup"

    And that is why the lines on the road are yellow kids!

    *click click*
    Premiere: "This footage is unsupported by Adobe Premiere!"
    Me: "WHAAAAAAAA!"

    So I grab the phone and dial Rellik's number
    Phone:"tuuuuuuuuut tuuuuuuuuuuuut"
    Rellik: "Hello Jeroen speaking"
    Me: "You know were doomed!"
    Rellik: "Huh what you mean?"
    Me: "You that phenomenex test we didn't study for yet?"
    Rellik: "Yeah what about it?"
    Me: "It's not in two weeks it's coming wednesday!!"
    Rellik: "Were fucked!"
    Me: "Yeah most def"

    Rellik: "So what did you wanna talk to me about?"
    Me: "Well you know that FLCL footage you gave me, Premiere won't put up with it and I know you had a problem with your current video simmular to the one I have now..."
    Rellik: "Yeah your footage doesn't want to import right?"
    Me: "Yup"
    Rellik: "Is your footage XVID cause if it is you should just change the compression format to huffyuff or something else you find suitable"
    Me: "No I tried that already, key thing here is that virtual dub won't open it as well. Funny thing is that Windows media player has no problem playing it!"
    Rellik: "Ooh that's kinda crap right there. Maybe you should try installing the windows media encoder and the windows 9 codec pack. It worked for me. Plus the exports I do with it are realy ace. Fast compression and still reasonable quality, not for an AMV though but for previews it's ace!"
    Me: "Okay sounds cool i''l search for it"

    So I'm still talking to Rellik while I'm searching the microsoft website and Rellik is searching for what I need to down as well. While searching things that I couldn't possibly tell you come up in conversation, like my teachers oversized body weight, but that's a whole other topic...
    Finally Rellik finds the files I need and I download them.

    Me: "Okay so I'm downing it now, let's hope it works"
    Rellik: "Yeah well I just found the DVD I gave you with the FLCL files on them. I'll try if VD open um here"
    Rellik: "Yeah it takes um in"
    Me: "Okay so what about Premiere it will save me a lot of diskspace if Premiere just swallows it"
    Rellik: "*click click* No it doesn't work... AAAAAAAAAAAH EVERYTHING CRASHES!!!!!"
    Me: "lol! that kinda sucks. Just a sec I'll reboot my machine"

    After rebooting everything worked perfectly and I could begin remastering my "The way I did before" video.
    AND BABY THAT'S WHAT FRIENDS ARE FOR!

    Not only did Rellik search about half an hour on the web for me, but he also crashed his machine and got my project going again. Rellik your ace bud. THXZ

    Yeah ppl you should probably get a friend like Rellik too.

  • Gridline Studios 2004-05-23 06:21:23 Lo there viewers of the org,

    I would just like to say that after almost a year I have finally made my return to the AMV world. I have finally started editing again and the results are quite pleasing me.

    I have started a new Studio called Gridline studios with a good friend of mine called Rellik (RellikNL on amv.org). Yesterday we made an editing run of 6 hours together and fixed us up a really nice intro video for all of our future videos :)

    The collaboration with Rellik went really well, not only were our visions about what the intro should look like more or less the same, we also swapped out knowledge really well. Everything in skills or knowledge I lacked, Rellik somehow knew and visa versa.

    Yes, yesterday was a fine day in AMV land for me :)

    p.s.
    For some of the org viewers that for some strange reason bothered to follow my developements, here is a brief overview of what I´ve been upto:

    end 2002: started working with adobe premiere
    beginning 2003: realesed DBZ - Genius video and tried starting up a studio called van der Basch.com
    mid 2003: studio van der Basch.com still not launched and thus comes the fall of this studio. However I realesed The By the power of the metal video and a remake of it a little later. Decided to join a group of three editors. I named the group Gridline StudioZ. After a period of 3 months and bad collaboration the group breaks up and I claim the name Gridline studios, because I came up with the name and made the intro video for that studio.
    end 2003: tried to start up my own studio called van der Basch design. This studios only member would be me adn I would finally get things sorted out. Started editing on a new video, but later that year halted it.
    beginning 2004: met Rellik and started Gridline Studios again with him. Did the intro and the collaboration is going really well so far. We have loads of great plans and are hoping we can get good hosting sorted out.
