  • In today's headlines... 2007-01-13 14:34:45 So, we're supposed to get snow this weekend. Woke up to a dusting of it today...supposed to be more tomorrow, or so they say. I find weathermen amusing. They don't have the guts to go out on a limb and venture a guess as to how much we'll get...they wouldn't want to risk their precious reputations (does a weatherman really have a rep? I mean, c'mon...it's the one job where you can screw up over 50% of the time and not get fired...). So, instead, they say that "this storm is proving to be very unpredictable." lmao

At any rate, one thing they are forcasting is that the majority of our snow will come tomorrow afternoon and overnight into Monday...that's gonna make not only my drive to work Monday morning a living hell (people around here forget from one year to the next how to drive in snow...despite the fact that it happens EVERY YEAR), but also my attending a con meeting tomorrow night. Ah, the adventure of snow travel. lol

As for video updates, the newest is coming along nicely. Have another section of the bridge to complete today, then calling it good until next weekend. Something's up with my Lagarith codec tho...for some reason, when I export from my video editor, it gets to 99% and throws an error which closes the program and corrupts my file. Rendering as a huffy didn't do this, though, so that's my workaround until I can figure out what's going on. ::sigh:: It just wouldn't be one of my amvs unless I had a least one issue that makes me want to stab the puter. All issues aside, if I stick to schedule, I should have it done by the end of the month...YAY!

And I now have a piece of music for the Gungrave vid I want to do...thank you Vlasis. :D

    'n stuff.

    Until next time...

  • Wow it's been a long time since I used this :X 2006-12-29 12:38:20 Let's see...where to begin? Obviously, I'm alive. Either that, or I'm a zombie that has retained memories of amv.org an its journals. Maybe a little of both?

Anywho...so the day to day life thing has been hectic (as usual). Work keeps playing games with my schedule, and I wish they'd just make up their minds as to when they want me to work and when I get days off so I could do a little planning. Meh.

Found out that my uncle has lung cancer that has spread to the liver and the spine. And yet, I still smoke. Intelligence was never one of my stronger suits, despite having 2 college degrees.

In video news, I finally made it past the one minute mark on my newest. If I manage to finish it, I think it'll blow everything I've done thusfar right out of the water in terms of improvements and storytelling. I'm aiming for a horror/drama character profile. I've sent the first round of betas out...if anyone reading this would like to take a look and offer input, I'm always grateful, so just send me a pm.

I've got the editing fever back...at a really bad time too, cuz I have to clean my house today for the massive holiday party I'm hosting tomorrow. Incentive for me to get the housework done as quickly as possible, I suppose.

    Speaking of that housework...

    TTFN,

  • Happy Thanksgiving...n stuff... 2006-11-22 21:43:08 To all those celebrating...have a happy turkey day! I plan to eat myself sick. :P

My good buddy Jeremy is actually off work for the next couple of days, so I plan to monopolize his time while I have the chance...muahahaha!!

And I don't have to work again til Monday = WOOT

    So yeah, um...everyone enjoy the food...n stuff...n I glomp u all. :D
  • And the news from Nebraskon is... 2006-11-19 16:00:39 Just a quick note to tell everyone how the amvs at Nebraskon went.

Overall, I was pretty impressed. For a small con, they seem to have a nice local talent pool and a few regular out of state entrants that always sumit vids that put on a good show. Granted, some had some rather glaring technical errors (the lip synch in the comedy winner was WAY off), but like I say, overall...well worth one's time to attend/enter.

Two of my vids retired at this con...and both did so on a good note:

"The Mark of My Sins" - Most Visually Appealing (actually, 2 vids got the award due to an audience vote tie)

"Someday" - The award given here was the "Grave of the Fireflies/Slit Your Wrist Award" for most emotional/depressing video entered. Who'da thunk?

But the BIG gratz go out to our very own JubJub who PWN'd the Best Editing Category by winning runner up with "Champloo Bomb A Head" and the overall Best Editing Award with "My Fair...Lady?"

    /glomps Jub and throws confetti

k...so now that I'm home, I'ma gonna eat all the pocky I bought now...and take a nap. :P
  • Bloody...Freakin'...Hell... 2006-11-17 11:12:44 Why me, I ask? Over and over again...why me?

It seems that I'm just the queen of bad luck. Either that, or karma seriously just decides to kick my butt every once in a while.

I had been planning to run amvs up to the chair of Nebraskon a couple of weeks ago, but then came down with the flu and couldn't go. Thankfully, both Jub and I had links to dl the vids, which I gave to the chair via internet to get the entries in. So, Jubbers - if you're reading this - you're entered...just not the way I originally planned. lol And Rina's WTF is on a loverly disc that I'll hand to him at the con tonight (which he said was ok).

Then last week, for some unknown reason, my internet provider was having connectivity issues (or something), and I all but lost my internet connection up until literally a couple hours ago. At first, I could access the net, but pages would load UBER slow. Then it wouldn't even access the net. This posed a few major problems, but thankfully the local cable people got their heads out of their butts (finally) and have seemed to fix the issue.

And in amv news...I am again butting my head against a wall. There's a section of footage that I really want to use in the vid I'm working on, but every time I try to render a huffy or lossless clip of it, it comes out choppy looking with black flickers in the screen - something I've never seen before - and it doesn't appear to happen with any of the other footage from the same series. So meh...I'm at a roadblock until I can figure out a filter or creative editing method to fix the problem.

Ah well...at least I have a con this weekend (even tho it's a very small one - it's still a group of friends I like to see).

Take care all - if any of you were worried - fear not, I am alive...just standing under a little dark thundercloud right now. ;)
