  • Rebirth 2003-11-13 10:01:36 So I guess its been a little while since I built the new computer. I was trying for a dual Athlon 2400+ system, but made a few mistakes along the way. I'm just chalking it up to experience, though. I now have a single Athlon XP 2400+, but I will be hacking the XP and buying an MP to go with it. I have an ATI All-in-Wonder 9700 Pro. I should have gotten a normal 9700 Pro, because now I have to wait for my girlfriend's dad to give me a 64Mb PCI video card so I can run dual monitors. I have a gig of RAM, and 200Gb of hard drive space. I still have a pretty long list of components I want to add to it, including a Raid controller and a beefier sound card. Still, this machine has worked amazingly well for working with Adobe After Effects 5.5. I finished about 1:40 of Forget this Life, and the computer was able to render and play back everything I had done so far, and do it within the program. I think my old computer would have just laughed at me and given the blue screen of death. Well, time to kick back and let the ideas and editing just flow from my stream of consciousness. 
  • Rest In Pieces 2003-05-27 17:29:33 Not just a good Saliva song, but my farewell to the old computer. I had attempted to upgrade to Windows 2000 Pro, and acquired several problems. In my attempts to debug, I was restarting several times. I believe one of the fans on my power supply went out, and my motherboard overheated from the ensuing restarts. I still have all my info from my 80Gb HD, and several salvagable parts for the construction of a new computer, but for the moment I am without. Just when I had the free time to make new AMVs. I have stats for the new computer I'm building on my profile, so email me if you have any suggestions for alternative parts. Farewell my "crappity" computer, farewell.
