JOURNAL: Amizadai (Lee Amizadai )

  • dance, monkey, dance! 2003-02-19 22:44:18 Woot! Found a new host, and my firstborn AMV is now up for download again after a 2 month hiatus! I have three different encodes up, all at different sizes - 14 MBs for those with dial-up modems, 34 MBs for those who want the regular quality, and a hulking 100 MBs for those quality whores! Xvid did a great job - the 100MB file looks perfectly sublime - even better than the HuffyUV output.

In any case, go check it out:

So far I've had 500 hits, but that's a continuation from the last time I had it up two months ago. Still, 200 hits in two days is pretty encouraging. I know I'm surprised, especially since Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind, while an excellent animated movie, is pretty dated and not all that conventionally popular. Nowadays its all Dragon Ball, Cowboy Bebop and Evangelion... those young upstart PUNKS of anime!

Plus, people don't regularly search for music from soundtracks, right? (I'm guessing Linkin Park and Britney Speares are on the top of the search query list) So where are all these hits coming from? Unless maybe it's been only 2 people doing the downloading, but they keep clicking on the link because it doesn't work... gargh.

In any case, if you're one of those two who's downloaded my video, please leave an opinion for this attention starved editor. Show me your love. Or hate. Or apathy.

By the way, I just checked out Iserlohn's Kenji's Spring video.

It's really good... I've been playing it on repeat since yetsreday, and evangelising it to almost everyone I know. I'm going to burn it on CDs and force people to watch it! Yes, it's that good. Not just the art, but the editing as well. And the fancy shmancy filters and edits aren't overwhelming - I don't like special effects for the sake of it. Smacks of showing off. Hm, I should probably put together a CD of fave AMVs and use it to convert people to anime.
  • Drumroll please.... 2002-12-27 22:58:25 I FINISHED MY AMV! A year and a half in the making, tweaking, thrashing, remaking, re-tweaking, etc...

Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind edited to music from The Gladiator: I think it rocks. Hard.

Go download - there are four file sizes - 13 MB to 100 MB. Yes, I got a bit carried away encoding to xvid. MPEG1 versions will be up soon.

  • OBLIVIATE! 2002-12-09 19:55:06 A couple of days ago, the server my online journal was on crashed, sending the entries I'd built up over a 3 month period into oblivion. They are all gone. ALL GONE. Because I didn't backup. And this is coming from the person who used to backup her computer so regularly it was more reliable than her period. I guess I've become complacent.

Well, but no use crying over spilt milk. I'm just going to be a little wiser now and host my journal with a company that employs less bakas who delete accounts without permission.
  • Bridge: dee dee dee dee dee dee dee dee dee dee (x2) 2002-11-11 21:15:14 You won't believe this... but a couple of days I woke up from a fever-laced sleep with an AMV idea in my head. The moment I opened my eyes, the idea was waiting there for me like a gift on a doorstep.

At first it was just an anime and a song association. But when I really thought about it, I realised that the anime had scenes that matched the lyrics of the song. Haha! How about that!

Now I just have to finish mastering the Nausicaa one so I can do this! YOSH!
