Yay, my Metal Eva Box Set finally came in today from Right Stuf. I got the remastered disc 1, a fixed cover for disc 2, and the metal box. It's very pretty. I'm ripping the remastered disc 1 right now so I figured I'd write here.
So I finished off a paper for my film class that had been hanging over my head for a while, and I'm sorta-kinda beginning to lose interest in ragnarok... so hopefully that means more editing time. Yea right, like that ever happens. Sigh.
Can't wait to get this current project over with. As much as I think it's gonna be great i'm not so into editing it. Probably because it's Eva and while I know it's gonna be a spectacular video I'm /so sick of making Eva videos/.
Gah. I've gotta make sure this winds up being more of an action video than drama, because I don't want two drama videos in AX... And I've already got my comedy idea down. That video should be far easier to make than this current one. But I'm having second thoughts as to whether I really want to make it or not.
I haven't edited in so long, yet I don't quite feel that same burning need to edit... it's kinda sad. I wonder if I've sorta permanently burned out on AMVs. Which would really suck, but it's possible.
I mean the last time I made a video for myself was (checks date of a file) December when I did my last video (which will be going to AX) and the DDR project video which I just kinda burned through real fast and didn't work very hard on (sadly). I feel bad kinda fudging it but it's not a bad video, and it fits with the danciness theme. I just wanted to get it out of the way.
Maybe I'm just really depressed right now. Blah. I need to play DDR. Or maybe sleep.

OK, well I was going and re-reading comments on my Soul of an Angel video while I waited for my Ragnarok Online character's hitpoints to regenerate, and I realize I don't think anyone has nailed the exact meaning I was trying to go for in the video.
If you watch the video, you'll see that the words as supposed to be sung by Misato's character (this I tried to make obvious by when I showed Misato's face during the first set of lyrics as she talks about Shinji.
The whole meaning of this is it's Misato attempting to console, yet at the same time lie, to Shinji. At the time I made the video I was of the firm position that Shinji was being used by all the other people in NERV, including Misato. So my initial concept for the video was to create something dramatic which could be viewed two entirely different ways - and according to how some people feel about the video I half succeeded. ^_^
Yes you can interpret the images to mean entirely that Shinji is this brave soul who Shines. But the other interpretation I was going for is that it's Misato trying to use him. She tells him how he's such a great person, and that he's surrounded by love, etc etc when she's really just trying to get him to do something.
The first time this sort of concept came to me was while watching the scene where Misato is consoling Shinji after his memories of his battle in Eva 01 resurface in Episode 2, where she says he's done a great thing that he should be proud of, when on the inside he feels like $hit for doing so.
So then the next verse is "you'll feel emotions you've never known" which was supposed to be an allusion to finding love from others and his father, but he's strangling Asuka because that's what he always seems to do when he finds out he cares about someone - he hurts them.
Anyway I could go on but I'd actually like to work on my new video so I'm gonna go do that. If anyone would like to add their comments to what I've said here please do so either in your journals or in email - I'd be interested to hear what people think. Did anyone else get it? Or was I too vague/missed the mark? -

GA: Look At Us is the Sarina Paris song which was uber-popular about a year ago and made its way onto Dancemania 22 recently and got stuck in DDR, which is very cool. The dance has some wacky 16th note stuff in it that's truly fun. Haven't AA'd it yet, but I'm going today (Tuesday) to Golf Land so we'll see how I do.
Yea, I know he originally said that, the funny thing is that they left the printed title the same yet censored the song. Those wacky Japanese. And to think they censor the word bitch but change nothing from "Oh Nick Please Not So Quick".
Have you tried MAX300? Other than MAXX Unlimited (which isn't unlocked yet on any machine in the United States as far as I know, you have to get to it as an extra stage) it's the hardest song ever in DDR (indeed it is rated at 10 feet difficulty). I can beat it with a B but only if I bar hug.
I have a couple DDR routines. One involves me doing Young Forever Singles Maniac backwards ^_^ only works on 4th, 4th Plus, and 5th mix machines, though, since they're the only ones with that song on it.
Try Tsugaru on the 7th mix machine, it's a super-fun dance, just so challenging yet fun. They mix in tempo changes, gallops, tempo freezes, freeze arrows... Tou name it - it's in there. I love it.
ParaParaParadise never held any interest for me beyond the soundtrack, which 80% I knew from Initial D already. ^_^ The game just isn't nearly as challenging or as fun as DDR, which is I think one reason it didn't last beyond a 2nd mix.
Oh yea Guitar Freaks and drumMania are both kickass games, too. -

GAlbright: Something Over the Rainbow was in 6th mix too, the slowdown part right at the beginning is just plain mean. =)
Where do you play 7th mix? I'm playing down by Southern Hills Golf Land (SHiGL). My favorite song is definately the mis of Look At Us on the machine, but my favorite new dance is The Whistle Song. Still, So Deep is my favorite dance on the whole machine, but it was in 6th mix.
