LOTR and other stuff...
2002-12-18 03:05:35
I just got back from watchin LOTR: The 2 Towers and it was....meh. : Some decent action scenes and the troll guy was funny at times but damn, does it have to be 3 hours long. I almost fell asleep at some points. Had it not been for our company cutting us a deal on the tickets and the fact that the theater has a bar (I downed a nice frozen margerita...yum...), I probably would have just waited to rent it. Oh well, It was worth it I suppose.
On the AMV front, I started doing a little timeline work on my new video which will be my first instrumental. I know what you're saying, "Junior's making a vid without any lyrics!!! WTF!!!! How the hell will he edit the damn thing without relying on the words as his crutch?!?!?!?!". Well, I figured the best way to get in the mood for the NES project is too practice with uptempo, dancey music and this song will easily fit the bill.
Speaking of AMV's, after many months of patiently waiting for some feedback, Craig Miller (the lead singer of The Ticket Timewasters and vocalist for 'Points For Sex') finally watched my vid and emailed me his thoughts. Here they are...

>OK, I finally saw the PFS video (thanks for leaving a copy). I just got a computer a couple months ago that could play a dvd, and by then I had misplaced the other copy.
>
>The video is both charming and alarming. It is at once beautiful and disturbing. I would not show it to any family members. I am happy that my music inspired you.

>On another note, I'm afraid the Spurs might suck.
>
>Merry Christmas..hope all is well,
>Junior
WTF! Why the hell does he need a DVD player to watch a WMV file? : Oh well, at least he watched it and didn't try to sue me or anything. =P He's an awesome dude and the only other person I know with sole allegiance to our beloved Spurs.

A few anime titles I bought...
2002-12-14 13:36:19
A few weeks ago, when I bought my new PC from Best Buy, I picked up a few DVD's and finally got around to watching them. Here's what I thought...
Bastard DVD eps 1-6 = Man, this series was entertaining! Funny, action packed and lots of fan service. I really wish it had some more aspects about Dark Schnieder's past scattered in but, since it's only 6 episodes long, I guess they were pressed for time. The animation quality was nice and I was never bored while watching it. Decent dramatic ending though I felt it could have gone on a little more. Considering I got the whole series on one DVD for 30 bucks, I'd say it was a decent deal. I'd give it a solid B+.
My Neighbor Totoro DVD = Nice heart warming movie about 2 kids and there dad moving to a new home sans their sick mommy. I had been interested in picking up this movie ever since I saw Tom the Fish's "Nekobus" and SushiBoy's "The Truth About Totoro" and was pleasantly suprised. The animation is top notch (usual for a Ghibli movie) and the story is simple yet cute enough to not be a waste. The only problem with the DVD itself was the fact that it had no japanese audio track, only english dub (which wasn't bad btw). It was only 10 bucks (day after Thanksgiving sale), so I feel I got real bargain. ^_^ Solid B+ also.

I spared people to death on the radio last night....

That's right good folks, I got on air and opened a big bag of nuthin'. :( At least I got to bring up my guitar and strum a few chords before they pulled the plug on my perverted song. I should have an mp3 up with all my segments sometime next week. The train wreck of the event should be amusing enough. =P

This sucks...
2002-12-08 11:34:57
Our SAP system crashed last week at work and we have been doing manual service call updates and closings ever since. Needless to say, writing everything down by hand, instead of typing, is a serious pain in the ass and the reason I haven't been around as much. I pulled a 12 hour day yesterday trying to help out with call volume and it's draining what little life force I have left. -_-

"Never Obsolete II"
2002-11-30 10:39:17
So I went to Best Buy after the Christmas shopping rush had run it's course to scope out any left over deals. Originally I had just planned to get a DVD and Xbox game since I had some coupons and figured I might as well use them while things were on sale. Then, after many months of wussing out at buying a new PC, I decided today was the day and I was gonna get a PC...checking account be damned!!! So I check out the bundle packages and initially see nothing that catches my interest. I was just about to leave the PC section when I saw it....Never Obsolete II. It was a decent Emachine under 800 dollars (after rebates) that I could actually not be embaressed about. Here's the breakdown...
Specifications of eMachines T4060

6 USB 2.0 ports (2 on front), 1 Serial, 1 Parallel, 2 PS/2, Mic-In & Head Phone jack on front, Audio In & Out
The thing that really sold me was, if I charged it on my Best Buy CC, there was no interest till 2004. So, I call up Best Buy credit services while at the store, bump my credit line from 600 to 1800 and take this thing home along with 2 DVD's (Bastard, My Neighbor Totoro) and 1 XBOX game (Halo). It's all hooked up with ATT cable thanks to our router and running like a champ so far. It will ony be a matter of time before the dreaded "buyer's remorse" sets in though. O_o
