Hey y'all 'sup?
Here I am in the week of finals, pulling my hair out, ready to jump out a two story building... and yet I somehow find myself here posting... Man are my priorities screwed!
Anyways...
I went and got most of the programs that were suggested for DVD ripping and the like and now I'm like,"Hold it... I ... don't ... have... a... DVD... drive... NOOOOOOOooooo..." LOL. Yeah... I should have thought of that before I clicked the download button.
Hurray for hold ups!
Over and out,

Man! I haven't been on here in ages! And lookie here I haven't written in my journal in over a year...
Yes, I'll admit it, I haven't been on since last spring. I have been totally swamped with everything I have had going on, such as juggling two schools, two jobs, I am currently in the process of getting a co-op position in the Technology Dept. and once again I plan on attending two schools in the fall. Exciting isn't it?
The last 10 months have been a real trip. I got interested in websites, took my MOS and A+ certs, ditched my Animation major, (I am now in web design) and I have been immersing myself in a bunch of computer art programs such as Fireworks, Paint Shop Pro, Dreamweaver, Corel Painter ect., familliarizing myself with the setup and function.
At the moment I am definitely more interested than ever in looking into the software that is necessary to actually make an AMV but once again... how does one weigh out doing something that is totally illegal? No you're not killing anyone, no you are not making any money from doing them... but you are taking their material and ripping it apart and putting it back together in a form that it was never intendend to be. (which is usually the cool part)
Should I think of it as a form of fanart? Should I include disclaimers and list all materials(series, episodes & music) used? What is the usual format? If anyone has insight please drop me note.
Well gotta go, class is almost over ;)
Over and out.

It's amazing that once you have a song and an anime, how fast your mind works to create something cool. :) The only real problem is to make sure you stay geeked about the project, or else... ~AMV~ R.I.P.

Questions
2005-12-14 16:51:14
I'm curious... is there really no benefit to making an AMV besides personal fulfillment? According to the tutorials, that would be a yes, but I still wonder... I mean you're learning how to use a lot of programs and in a bunch of different ways... couldn't that knowledge be applied to something more career minded? Or is that totally out of the question because the production of AMVs is not exactly legal? I would think that there should be some remote benefit... could it possibly be applied to animation in some strange and bizarre way? 0:) (I'm majoring in Animation) Oh well, 'tis enough of this thought thinking for now.

How to Guides

I am finding the tutorials to be fascinating and mind numbing all at the same time. I really like Phade's phantabulous :P must view list in his tutorial; he knows his stuff! I particularly love the ones by Kevin Caldwell they are awesome! Believe is one that really stands out in my mind because of the fantastic lip syncing and the song that he chose... I had never heard it before. "Caffeine Econioum" (sorry not looking at spelling!) really fascinates me! How could one anime have so much energy?! IT ROCKS! (WAHHH!!! I WANNA BE HYPER!!!)
The most awsomest thing about really good AMV's for me is that it showcases the anime in all its anime-y goodness and grabs my attention, making me interested in checking out the actual anime which I most likely had never heard of or seen. :) Its like a really cool movie trailer... only way better!!!
