JOURNAL: Kaysow

  • @ 60% 2007-04-18 12:28:41 That's 20 percent nailed in just a week. Seems like I'm finally gaining some momentum on this. The video will be about 3:10 long, and now I'm at about 1:50.
  • Divorce again 2007-04-14 11:35:51 It looks like I AM going to finish this one.
  • Divorce 2007-03-26 03:49:30 Took a pause from AMVs, and haven't worked all that much on those projects lately. I did, however, start a new one recently. It's Elfen Lied set to Craig's Brother's "Divorce", that song I've been aching to make a video out of for years. Elfen Lied fit the bill, but fuck all this speculation, you'll see it when I'm done with it.
  • State of the Restorationer 2006-12-20 10:06:44 Got a way into "For A Friend", but then I quickly grew bored with it.

I moved out more than a year ago now, and now that I have my own place and a computer that isn't clogged down with spyware and shit (due to a refreshing lack of an internet connection) it's kinda fun to sit down and edit the night away.

So I took a little break from that one, and instead decided that my two 2003 remakes were shit. The ones of "I'm Not Gonna Give Up" and "Freaky Shit". "Freaky Shit", incidentally being my "most requested" one, playing well both on amv.org and youtube. Most certainly because it's the only one in which I used a song people other than me recognize.
Anyway, when I tried to make them better in 2003, I didn't. Not like I could've. So now Im'a do it again; a THIRD remake of my second and third AMVs.
"I'm Not Gonna Give Up", with Tenchu 1 & 2 and Craig's Brother's five-star song "Head in a Cloud" is already finished, and will be uploaded as soon as the old one is cleared out from local hosting. I guess I could've used footage from the Tenchu games that have followed parts 1 & 2, but I hated those games, so no.

"Freaky Shit" will still be Resident Evil 3: Nemesis only.

Then I'm also planning to do "Potential", with another Craig's Brother song, set to Final Fantasy VIII. I think that was the last one I made entirely in VirtualDub, appending and cutting and estimating, so Premiere should spruce that up quite a lot. I'm mostly going for better syncing.

I could do "The Decline" too, NOFX's 18-minute epic set to Final Fantasy VII, but I won't. As great a song "The Decline" is, it's not worth it. It wouldn't be hard to do, but with so much space, I'd still end up with WAAAY too much filler. The video is fucking boring, and there's no way around it.

Reason I like remaking stuff is simply because I enjoy editing, but can't be arsed to think new shit up. It's horrible, and I'm ashamed of it, but that's the way it is right now. It was probably better five years ago, when I shat out all those videos with thinking first. Most of them ended up being pretty good, obviously.

I'm doing all this simultaneously, and I know that in the end, I'll end up making NEW ones. It's just that I'm not very in touch with the scene, and make them only for myself and whoevere wants to watch, so when I do get around to brand new ones, it'll still be set to music that I A) Love, and B) Want others to hear.
  • Akira 2006-12-14 07:14:20 Last week, I watched Akira. It was quite the experience, because even though I have watched it more than one hundred times; last time was well over two years ago. Kinda like the first time all over again, I was pretty much blown away again by a movie I thought was dead to me. That was interesting.

Then I realised my copy of the movie was UNINTERLACED, and as a reflex, I instantly ripped it. Two things came to mind at once; Redo and better my old "For A Friend" video, which was kinda hastily put together. The other was to pay homage to another old fave-AMV of mine; Brad Demoss' "Come Out and Play". Said and done; both were started off simultaneously.

"For a Friend" is gonna take some more time. The first one was released on Christmas eve 2002, so maybe this one will date december 24th too.

"Come Out and Play" took little time tho, and was finished two days ago. So Im'a upload that one now.
