Knee deep in monkey poop
2002-05-25 04:51:33
I am so sick.
I'm not sure exactly what I have, but it's probably something really contagious. All I know is that I feel like shit. I even look like shit, as my roommate so thoughtfully pointed out last night. On the plus side, I stayed home from work today and did more editing. I managed to sneak in about eight hours total between bouts of unconciousness. It's looking great, but maybe that's just the drugs talking. Maybe.
As a side note, I am not depressed anymore.

No means no god dammit

Making a video is much tougher the second time around. I watch my videos all the time, so I can spot all the fuck ups. I am my toughest critic. Now that I have the chance to vindicate myself, I keep hearing this voice inside my head. You know the one. Goes by the name of Lazy. It tells me the edits are "good enough" and that no one will notice that I messed it up there. Sometimes I believe it. Sometimes I just want to let it slide. But ultimately, I realize one crucial fact.
I'll notice it.
Must...fix...edits... *sigh*
As a side note, I am really depressed.

Stripping complete

Well, that was a lot easier that I thought it would be.
Timecoding...what the hell was I thinking? It was much simpler to just break the pan into sections, since the line was only four words. Glad I figured that one out before I invested too much time. The end product came out rather well.

Take it all off!

Ah stripping...
Well, film-stripping anyway. It can be quite tough sometimes. I've been out of the game so long, I forgot. I am currently in the process of lip-synching a pan shot. I'm going to have to do time codes for this puppy to get it just right.
It may take me a few tries, but the end shot will be well worth the effort.

Do that redo that you do

Combining a recently acquired DVD-ROM drive with the DVD ripping knowledge gained from ErMaC's guide, I am currently redoing my X vid. The last one was capped on a POS capture card that I doubt any of you own (or heard of), off a 5th generation VHS fansub.
The difference in quality is staggering.
So, I am off sabbatical for the time being. Inspiration comes from a few different sources. EK's excellent "Failed Experiments in Video Editing", Dark Kamui's post about vapid DBZ fans (I'm right there with you), and of course, "The Golden Donut". That seems quite promising indeed.
