please make sense with your organization, for the love of toast

I can't find where to view opinions others have given me on my videos. I remember I knew it before, because i asked in the forum, and they told me, but I can't find it anymore. I recall it was in a very dumb, very hard to find place. That annoys me.
For the time being, I have to go to the opinion I made on someone else's AMV (using the all opinions link), and then substitute the ID number of the video of mine I want to talk about. -_-
I also added an entry for my next video, which will be a Hoshi no Koe one. Just figured I'd toss up a barebones entry so that, when people search, they can be like "o, someone is planning on doing that", and then, do whatever they want with that.

n00b comments, and art
2003-03-12 01:08:01
You know, as a n00b (which I am), it can be REALLY scary to show your work to other people, who are much more experienced than you are. I mean, I think of AMVs as art, because, really, the act of taking something, compressing it down into 5 minutes or less, and telling a story with it, with a song is... it takes a lot of time, a lot of work, and a lot of soul. As such, as with any artist, it can be really scary to show your work to people, because it involves showing a little bit of your soul to people.
One thing I was afraid of, posting my work here, was that people would comment, and would be like "WELL CLEARLY YOU DID THIS WRONG, U STUPIDHEAD", and be all elitist and bitchy. I've seen fanfic forums like that (you know, like the one at FFOnline), and the thought of that scared the bejesus out of me.
I've been happily surprised though. People who have given opinions of my work have had both good and bad to say, as I would expect, but anything bad they have to say, they counter with something they liked, or they explain how I could fix the thing they didn't like and make it better... all the comments are actually constructive and encouraging. It's really nice to know that not all fan-based artforms are run by a bunch of snotty stuckup elitist pricks.
AMV.org, I <3 you guys (and gals). {:Z

Infection

So, my grav AMV is complete, and being uploaded now. I'm happy with the composition of it... but the video quality is lacking, and i'm sure that people will comment on the general suckiness of the video. I ripped from the HK DVD, which, when played in a DVD player, looks pretty okay. Not excellent, and you can see a little bit of noise, and a little bit of artifacting, but it's not disgusting. When you try to encode to, well, ANYTHING from it though, the noise is magnified and enhanced so that it looks horrid. I even tried throwing a couple of filters on it, but it would either look even blockier in the bad sections, or it would look oversmoothened, so I just gave up (which i'm sure will get me frowned at XD).
Oh well. It'll be up soon. I'm happy with the overall result, despite the semi-low quality source.
