  • You spin me right round, baby right round like a record, baby Right round round round 2009-07-29 22:49:52 So its been nearly a month since I went to AX and experienced the sheer horror of having "Spin On,Simon" showcased to some 5-6000 people.

Whats even funnier is that it happened one year later to the day when I went to AX08, sat in the comfy ass chair of the Nokia theater, finished watching "Be A Man" and said: "Yea, I wanna try this". Crazy I was able to get to the finals on my first try. However, I didn't enjoy watching my vid. I was nervous the whole time and was ready to fall off the face of the earth at certain points of the vid.

BUT, people seemed to like it. I hope so. I think the musical choice may have been odd to some but oh well.

So with that, we move on to the next project., which I imagine will get a mixed response. Kanye West and Ouran Host Club. That should be a trainwreck.

And somewhere down the line the Rahxephon that I finally finished should get uploaded to the Org.

I need to get a job. Can't believe I got laid a day before AX. Couldn't splurge on anime goddies like I wanted. Maybe next year.

    "Flashing...lights,lights,lights..."
  • Shadows of doubt 2009-04-30 18:53:20 I registered with the org. back in late2005. An impulsive sign-up, I had heard from a friend of mine of a place where people could upload and watch AMVs for free. Signed up, completely abandoned the place for three years. I'm surprised my account was still active when I came back.

I uploaded my first AMV "Angel of the valley of the wind" in Aug 08. A frighteningly unpolished effort at an AMV. Dirty, blurry, wrong aspect ratio, etc, pretty much everything you're not supposed to do in an AMV . Since then, i've done a few AMVs, but they all at he "other place". All a bit unpolished, all the works of a novice.

Just yesterday I completed my second AMV i wish to upload to the org. An effects laden Gurren Lagann vid titled "Spin on, Simon" I submitted it to AX09 so we'll see how that works out. If I make it as a finalist, it goes up the 4th of July. If I don't, im sure it will be sometime in may.

I can't really say if i'm proud of "Spin on". It took me about two months to complete and was filled my many ups and downs. Many were attributed to the fact that my job went into overtime and I would have to work 11 hours a day. It took a toll on my body but my desire to be creative spurred me forward. Even with all that, I managed to finished by the May 1st deadline. However, I can't but help to feel like I didn't do enough. Was the timing here too fast?too slow? Should I have corrected that mask? Do I need more footage? Did I encode with the aspect ratio? Is the sound quality high enough? So on and so forth...

The shadows of my own self doubt pervade my mind.

In the end, I worked hard on my vid. Hopefully it will all pay off.
