  • Is it the shoes? 2012-03-18 03:17:55 I love basketball. I have very fond memories as a child watching the "NBA on NBC" aka The Micheal Jordan Extravaganza, playing with friends at school or against cousins at family get togethers . I wasn't very good, but it didn't matter, I just had fun regardless. So as you can imagine my newest obsession is an anime called "Slam Dunk". Yes, Im about 20 years late to the party since the show first aired back in 1993. Its a bit amusing to see basketball be given the anime treatment (Grabbing rebounds and learning to do lay-ups has never been so dramatic) And I have to remind myself this show does take place in Japan every time a character's height is mentioned. ( A '6'6" center?, really?) But the show really just reminds me of all the little things I love about playing basketball. Really glad I finally got around to watching it.

    Vid progress: 50%???

So far, this has been the hardest video i've ever done. Not because of any technical reason but because of how much time that has to be put in so that I can make the Anime Expo deadline in about a month and change. Usually when doing a video, i'll start slow. 4 hours here and there. Then maybe bump that up to 8 or so. Usually at the very peak it'll be 12 hours, but thats usually with about a few weeks left before a deadline. This time however, we've been at about 10-12 hours every day since mid January. I'm not burned out yet, but it has been quite a grind. It doesn't get easier since I found another job and now I have to fit in editing in what little time I have left during the week days. Im hoping that I don't have to do overtime on the weekends anytime soon since weekends are when I can go all out, but whatever the boss says, must be done. One day at at time.

I hate unrequited love, boy does it suck.

  • Deja Vu x2 2012-01-28 23:25:38 Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd were unemployed again. Lol. I was kept longer than I thought I would be but it is still a bitter sweet end. I'll miss the cool people I got to work with and I guess I'll miss getting paid to play MW3 all day. Good times. But now that's all over its back to filling out applications and watching my phone and/or email to see if any replies come. Boy I really screwed up my life.

    Vid Progress: %5

Now that I dont have wake up in the morning I can spend all my free time on the new vid that I hopefully wont fuck up like the one I tried to do last year. So begins about a month and a half of masking. Although if I really push myself, maybe I can get done earlier and give myself more time for all the other crap that has to be done afterwards. Sometimes I wish I could one of those cool people that can put out a video in like three or something like. Everything I do takes so long and...im being emo again, sorry about that...

I need to watch more David Fincher movies, need to pick his brain and maybe learn a thing or too...

You may ask yourself, "What is that beautiful house?"
You may ask yourself, "Where does that highway go to?"
You may ask yourself, "Am I right, am I wrong?"
You may say to yourself, "My God! What have I done?"

  • Rat Race 2011-10-16 01:06:10 QA testing is a bittersweet place to find yourself in. On one hand, you'll probably work with of people who about your age and share the same interests so you'll most likely have no problems fitting in. Also, because you may work 60-80+ hours a week, you see these people more than your own family, in a sense, they become a weird surrogate family of sorts. The downside is well, you work long hours for peanuts and are pretty much more disposable than the paper towels in the bathroom. With the way things are it may not be wise to complain, its still a job, its money in your pocket, but you can't help but lament the futility of it all.

    Vid Progress: 10%

This probably will be the longest I've worked on a video. I started late August and anticipate getting finished next April hopefully in time for Anime Expo next year. Because of my job, Sundays are the only days I can really edit at length but since Sundays are also my only day off, I kinda rather do other things besides sit in front of another radiation source and melt my eyes. I'm hoping by the end of the month I have the "sync-map" done and then I can move on to figuring out how exactly I'm going to achieve the look I want and work out the technical details. December is when I hope to start putting things together and really start to do the heavy lifting. I wish I could get a quick video done during this time, I haven't released a damn thing this year and I hate to not have anything done this year.

The only good thing that could come out the NBA canceling its season is I wouldn't be distracted by basketball games so I can spend more time editing... Screw that, gimme my B-Ball dammit.

One minute here and one minute there
Don't know if I'll laugh or cry
One minute here and one minute there
    And then you wave good-bye...

  • The long road to nowhere... 2011-08-15 02:31:38 Its been an odd last few months, I dropped out of school but I managed to find a"job". Its a "job" but it has no security so I'll probably be unemployed again around December, just in time for the Holidays, sweet. I missed AX2011 completely. I paid for my 4 day pass and...didn't go,Why? I'm still trying to figure that out. It seems the AMV contest was quite a hoot. Which is what I expected and hoped for and I missed a slew of really cool events. Sucks to be me.

On the AMV creation front things are a bit rosier-kinda. I finally scrapped a project I was working on or at least i''m not gonna progress further along the timeline than where I'm currently at and will complete whatever I have so far. However, I have started to do some "tests" for my next visual disaster. It seems to work a bit, although there is a loss of quality in the footage and that may be a problem. If things go smoothy it should be another video with an odd art style to it.

I'll never get tired of watching 2001: A Space Odyssey, ever.

    Don't talk back
    Just drive the car
    Shut your mouth
    I know what you are...

  • Insert Coins to Continue/Select your Character 2011-06-05 19:05:20 So after much griping and whining and bitching and so on, I've decided to continue on my failed Anime Expo entry as well as start planning on a new AMV. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with it once I finish. I'm undecided on if I should even upload it to the Org since there are parts that are absolutely cringe inducing. Perhaps i'll just finish it so I can finally move on. But definitely down the line, this thing is gonna get a total makeover

    Failed vid progress: 70,80%?
    Evangelion project-Planning

I haven't even opened the aep file in a month and some change, feels like its been ages. Mo' masking left to do as well as putting in the details on certain scenes. I actually was almost done before I decided to quit. As for this Evangelion vid, I've already decided which scenes I want to use and the timing. But Im probably gonna take it slow on this one and try and go out there a learn some new techniques and see if I can apply them to this vid.

I can't believe I just watched 50+ episodes of Battlestar Galactica in one week. Frak me.

Because the plot thickens every day
And the pieces of my puzzle keep crumblin' away
    But I know
    there's a picture beneath...
