For the past week I've been contemplating if I should scrap this current AMV. To put it bluntly: It's a piece of shit and I hate it.
I thought perhaps despite its rocky start I could somehow soldier through but no, that was a foolish notion. The overall lack of planning and organization has finally caught up to me and the video has suffered for it. I've been wanting to make this thing for well over a year and have been working on it since December so saying i'm disappointed is an understatement. I think i'll just junk this version and start all over again or maybe just move on, I dont know... -

So Ubisoft decided to re-release Beyond Good and Evil with updated graphics and of course, I obliged and bought the game...again. This is third time I've bought it (Steam, PS2 being the previous) and I love this game. But, I started to wonder exactly why? The gameplay itself is pretty damn simple, grade B type Zelda game mechanics with some stealth thrown in. Then I realized, it has nothing to do with the gameplay but the world in which the game exists. The world of BG&E has quite a lot of charm to it. The artstyle is simple but colorful. The characters have a lot of, well, character or at least seem like interesting people, or pigs or walruses or Rastafarian Rhinos. And of course, the music is just awesome. I really think the world of BG&E would translate well into an animated movie. That'll probably never happen, so i'll just go pearl hunting in the hovercraft...again.

Slowly chipping away. Unfortunately those previous months of planning were for nothing since im pretty much making up the video as I go along. I was really hoping to avoid that this time around and maybe be a bit more efficient, another lesson learned I guess.
And to everyone who nominated and voted for "Children of Daicon" in the VCA's, thanks. I was surprised to see it listed in the nominees. I figured it wouldn't make it past the semi's anyway, which is fine, far better videos out there. But it was cool to see it be a part of the Big Dance. Thanks again.

So for almost two months i've been planning my next piece of crap and just within the last two weeks I was becoming really dissatisfied with what has been done so far. So much so that scrapped over half of it and started again. I think this new arrangement is far better than what I had before and hopefully by Feb 1, I can get started on this monstrosity and hopefully be done in Late April.
Vid Progress: Planning-90%
I was hoping to do some color studies of some the scenes I wanted to modify but because I had to gut the vid, I will probably have to just figure out the look of this video as I go along. The end result is pretty up in the air. Tightrope walking basically. Hopefully by March, most of the masking will be done so I can spend time trying put all the elements together and put on some polish. Fun fun fun.
School sucks, except for the girls. Thank god for them.

I must say, this Christmas was the best I had in quite some time. The fact that my older sis can actually be here for Christmas for a change certainly changes the atmosphere. That, and I've probably drank more egg nog this holiday season then I have I years past (That stuff is addictive). Good times.

As we near the new year (HAPPY NEW YEAR ORG!) I'm drumming along with planning my AX vid. Its...sorta coming out ok so far. Its been quite a hassle because even though im using only 20 or so shows, a lot of them have multiple seasons or movies so it could be well over 40 sources.(Which still isn't all that much compared to some of the behemoths that have come through here, but its a lot for me dammit!) Of course, as I weed out what I need, that number will shrink significantly. But, right now, its really a pain sloggin though all these episodes and using only,say, 5 seconds. What a waste. However, thats the easy part. What lies ahead is a TON of masking. Perhaps every frame will have some masked element to it, (Once again, not unprecedented, but I've never done it before) mixed in with a weird, but hopefully well executed graphic style. Hooray for punishment!...ugh...
