JOURNAL: Douggie

  • VCA! VCA! VCA! 2008-02-15 03:53:44 Yeah, 3 days left before voting for the VCA semi-finals gets closed. I'm nominated in 9 categories (thanks to the popularity of AMV Technique Beat) with three videos, so that's 8 more than last year! (last year I came into the semi-finals with Best First Video)

That's an improvement I can be proud about!

You can see what my semi-final achievements are (first post) along with the ones of other AMV-editors in the following topic:

    http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=86255

Or in my journal post: http://www.leiseus.net/journal/?p=30

So vote on whichever AMV you think is worth to be in the finals (either mine or somebody else's - it doesn't matter which one), but just don't forget to vote as your voice counts too!

I don't think I'm gonna win something this year as there are some mammoths of AMVs in there which I cannot stand up against, but it sure would be nice to get as far as the finals for future bragging rights!

Oh, and if you have the time (just to plug it again!) check my journal at http://www.leiseus.net/journal if you're bored!

    Have fun!

  • Not many people wil like this! 2008-01-19 09:32:32 I finally released my AWA Masters 2007 entry. I find it the most interesting concept I thought of up until now. But warnning though, it's not for everybody (and I'm ready for both bad comments and low downloads)!

    Have fun!

  • My own journal! 2008-01-13 09:09:12 It always surprises me when I see my journal has gotten clicks. It's not as much as most other users here, but hey, it's something! But this journal here has a lot of disadvantages: there's no own layout, not searchable (or even findable with a search engine) and for some reason I have the tendency to write about AMVs and nothing else.

So I started my own journal at my page - something I wanted for so long.

There's so much information that I want to share and I post everyday in it (at least my challenge is to do so for at least 2 months). It's about everything I find interesting, from movies to games to useless facts, so check it out!

Oh yeah, I will finally announce my AWA Master AMV PLUS 2 other videos on Saturday the 19th. So Crack, in case you're reading this, make sure you don't miss it!

In the meantime, you can see my 5cm AMV on my journal:

    Have fun!

  • The world is really living! 2008-01-03 20:18:10 The release of my "other" AWA video that probably nobody noticed. I thought people would not really like it because there's a minimal of sync (just following the structure of the song), a minimal of effects (just your average Doug-typography) and absolutely not structured like most of the trailers that gets released here (or any of your Holywood-trailers that is). But for now, I'm getting suprisingly positive reactions! Thanks people!

But hey, Chronicles of Ghibli was quite the monster in AWA!

    Anyway, here's the link:

Too bad I didn't spend too much attention on this AMV, now I've released it, I see many things that could've been better, storywise. I think I should've incorporated the guy some more towards the ending to get a better picture. Ah well..
  • Prizes.... woohoo! 2007-11-22 17:27:31 When starting editing AMVs and entering my first AMV-contest back in June 2006 (okay, that's last year I know ;P )- where I became 6th of 13 - I never thought I would win any prizes in any conventions ever. Knowing the type of AMVs I make, I actually never thought people would like my stuff and now it seems that there are actually people who like my stuff!

I just gotten my certificates from AC Cubed (Canada) and it's pretty neat to have that in your hands. Last week I've gotten two medals from Manifest (Australia) and it was also a great feeling to have that in your hands! Even though the competition hasn't have as many big names as in AWA or AC (which I hope to win something in one day! :P ), I still feel proud and the fact that you win something means that your work gets appreciated, so it feels like you did do it for something more than just yourself!

Plus it's just good to know that the kind of videos I'm into do get liked by people!

But it's just too bad I couldn't be at those cons. The cons I attended here in Holland were really great to be at: especially when you hear the reactions. It was great to be at a room (hall/theatre/whatever you call it) with 600 people laughing at your video - truly a great experience. Or it was also cool when denying//CHANGE was being displayed and looking at people's faces going WTF, together with them whispering about how they like or - more commonly - not like my video!

Yeah, good times... ! From here it can only get either better or worse or inbetween. I don't know what the future will bring, but I'm sure I won't be long in the "AMV-game" (there's still too much to do in editing besides AMVs), so I better make it the best until then!

Well, too much rambling and too little work! I hope the live-action vid-topic doesn't get closed until end January when I have to have a music video for classes done! Probably will be closed by then, but ah well.. there's always the donator's forum! :D

See you around! (for whichever soul has too much time to read this)
