My new djs came in today. I've been waiting so long it feels like I ordered them months ago. Turns out it was only a week or two. They're very pretty. The fangirl in me squee'd quite loudly as I unwrapped them. I happened to see an offer for a $.99 dj and jumped at it. Then I had to add some more books to make up for the shipping and handling so I went surfing through the ebay store's collection. Arina Toshimi. Yeah. I got myself a copy of Hiyaku 3. Mmm. I could have sworn I'd seen a scanlation of that book, but all I could find was an online translation and raws. It doesn't matter. Just owning one of Arina's books... Yes, the fangirl is extremely satisfied. Look at that big ole smile.
I also picked up two really big Rurouni Kenshin books. They weren't nearly as expensive as Hiyaku was, but still pretty hefty. What's funny is that they were made by the same artist as the discounted $.99 book - and that's a YYH book. I love knowing dj artists cross fandoms as much as fanfic writers do. This person - Gim21sp - has a pretty style, too, sweet and innocent. That makes a nice contrast with Arina's cutthroat dark!Kurama.
The drawback? None so far.
I got my credit card statement from last month and this bill was on there. I had a little issue when I saw how much had been spent at Walmart and JCs last month - all stuff purchased for my mother. I make it a point not to use my credit card for anything but online purchases (in liu of a check). Having that on one bill is painful. Luckily it's tax season, so she has plenty of money to pay me back for her share. I still have a debt left over from yaoi-con on that card - I refuse to let any more accumulate while I'm paying that off. Plus it's annoying that I go out of my way to pay cash for everything and there she is having me buy her cigarettes on my credit card because she doesn't have any cash on her and the place will close before she gets out of her office. I think she just wants to save gas money. That trip to Kentucky for cigarettes is a 45 minute drive. >.>
Conclusion: djs djs yay! I'll be scanhappy for the rest of the night. ^___^

...do I really need a title

when the only thing I'm doing is making an update for myself that will be kept private for half a day so it stays off the new list remains ulikely fodder for whoever is looking to for an excuse to cry about twisted panties?
Didn't think so.
I can't wait for tomorrow night. I'll probably sleep early, but I expect to be wide awake by 2am Saturday. I had to the 'clips' for one of my sources this week. I was overconfident. I didn't check to see how premiere handled the filters I'd used. I forgot I was using lagarith for the first time. I don't know why lagarith would be different from huffyuv when I use the same script on both, but it is. So I had to switch resize filters and tone down some of the filters - they looked pastel, more pastel than the anime deserved (shocker). I still don't know how that happened. Or why lagarith didn't resize as smoothly (perfectly) as huffyuv with lanzos as the filter. I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to make a difference. Must be something strange on my computer. Which makes me wonder - maybe that's why I had so much trouble using lagarith in wmm - because I had a bad copy of it or some weird glitch on my machine makes that codec troublesome.
Anyway, I finished rencoding my footage and replaced half the clips in my timeline. I'm still getting random lockups when I use keyframes. I'll place the fixed copy of the clip in the timeline, mimic one of the effects - save - go to mimick the next keyframe and - BAM - lockup. Good thing I save after every single step. ^^;;
It would have been so much easier if I'd remembered to assume 29.970 when I rendered the first set of clips. I could have just replaced the files. As it is, replacing the files would make all of the clips "short" in the timeline. Fixing that would take longer than replacing one clip at a time, despite the lockups.
Funny. I don't get lockups when I do the original keyframes. I can edit a good 2 hours without a single lockup. But the second I have to do a "duplicate" clip, copying the settings one at a time, it's lockup city. I think it might be because I switch from one clip to the other too much - my comp can't handle that. When I originally did the clips, I went much slower.
Looking forward to this weekend. I did half the vid in one sleepless weekend. It was creepy - months of not being able to force myself to put a single clip on the timeline for any of the vid ideas I came up with - and suddenly I'm down with that like I never took a break. I expect the second half of the vid to go as smoothly, once I finish replacing those buggy clips.
I've been updating my site. Actually, I'm been deleting my site more than anything. I was looking at the stats and realized just one of my picture galleries was taking up 600mbs. Sure, it was the YYH gallery, by far the biggest one. But, still. That's huge. So I deleted it. I deleted all the galleries. I don't collect pictures anymore, and I don't really like doing screencaps. I'll probably do a mock gallery of genre-specific pics, but no more "by anime" galleries. They just take too much time and too much space. I've lost interest in that hobby. I'll probably donate the rarer pics to one of those really big "collection" anime gallery sites. And then I'll delete 15gigs of anime pics off my computer. Heh. I've really been collecting those things way too long. ^^; And they're all organized in folders by anime, character, pairing, and rating. Someone had way too much time on her hands these last few years. If I run into her, I'll give her a good smack.
On an unrelated note, I'm tempted to start a page on my site devoted to making snarky comments that I can no longer put in my journal. If I remove the links to my site from my org profile, there will be no connection whatsoever. I miss being able to write whatever I like providing I obmit names and keep it general. Too much chumming. It's the negative things that make you appreciate the positive ones. Enough tender tonguing and feather stroking and my stomach clenches up as if I ate a pound of cum-coated chocolate. Got to throw that crap up or I'll get an ulcer. Blech. ^_^

There's a lot of people missing from the vca nomination lists this year. Did you all intentionally leave that box unchecked? Yeah, miss Sarahtheboring, I'm looking at you. ;p
Godix not being on the list after doing such a good pimp job for Most Helpful is just wrong. I know he lost Op and Qc privileges, but the vca is for what you did *last* year. Nothing from this year should affect that. Unless he pimped us up only to leave that box unchecked. That would be a seriously asshat thing to do. Maybe that was the poing. Hm...
Scintilla's not on there either. Or Trythil, or Madbunny, or Flint, or anyone I had on my helpful list. There were quite a few people who helped me last year, whether personally or vicariously. And so far not a one is on that list. I can still vote for familiar names I saw helping *other* people on the forum, but it's disturbing to have all the people who helped *me* be suspiciously absent from the vcas this year.
Why not check that box? It's not like you care if you win or lose, anyway. Just participate so people like me have someone to nominate - that's the funnest part of the vcas. :(
I'm having the same problem with videos, but I realized that a few weeks ago. I didn't download enough of last year's vids. There were a grand total of ten action videos that I'd actually seen on that list. Again, half the vids that I would have nominated weren't there because their creators aren't participating.
Buncha spoilsports ruining my fun. I hope you're all satisfied with yourselves. >.<

Define irony

Someone with an "alter ego account" linked openly on their profile page talking about how the mods want to crack down on dummy accounts.
I laughed. Then I sighed.
Hello, gander. Meet goose. You're not the same size, but you're both going in the pot. And, yes, the pot is as black as the kettle. Which one is hotter, you ask? It doesn't matter. Pick one to boil in or stay out of the kitchen.

oh my god

I am seriously going to do it. Wide-eyed.
I ripped footage for a vid using two anime. I had a song in mind that I've been listening to for over two years. The second I went to start laying clips I realized it didn't match. I've had that happen repeatedly with this song, which is why it's been on my playlist for years. I went and looked for other songs that might match either of these anime. I was limited because I wanted something I could do fast cuts with, maybe try some interesting editing out on (okay, I admit, I'm talking about effects here). I found the perfect song - a Demons and Wizards song. But I only had it in mp3 and when I converted it to wav it had skips in it. Very disappointed, but knowing I had myself to blame, I went back to skimming through my music.
Then came the postdated LP-DBZ thread in Gen AMV. I gave my usual threat - I like it so there's nothing to stop me from doing it if I wanna. Then I realized. There's nothing to stop me from doing it if I wanna. Damn.
I borrowed a bunch of cds from my brother recently. Maybe I mentioned it here. One of them was LP's Meteora (?I think). The first thing I did when I listened to the wavs (checking quality) was note which anime fit each song. Just in case someday I decided I wanna. Not anything I actually planned to do.
Well, I went back to that list and guess what? One of those anime I have ripped on my computer was on that list. I listened to the song and hey, guess what else? The other anime I ripped matches one of the songs, too. Maybe even the same song, if I twist the anime a little to match. But it's not even twisting, just focusing on certain parts of the anime.
I think I'm going to do it. I've threatened it. Hell, I've done it already. Four times. Twice with YYH, once with YnM, once with NightWalker. It's nothing major. So why do I feel like I'm a gleeful child planning to commit some crime I'll regret later? Heh, it's a fun feeling. Watch me drop it in the next hour by letting myself be distracted until I forget the temptation again. I haven't thought of those songs in months.
