JOURNAL: Jerrit Tenurb (Jerrit Tenurb)

  • Working... and READ TO FIND OUT HOW YOU CAN GET FREE OPINIONS FROM ME! 2005-09-04 15:44:15 I'm putting this at the top because most of you are too lazy to read very far. No offense. As I stated in a previous journal entry, I need pictures of bananas. Real bananas, bananas in anime, anything. For every two banana pictures that get sent to me, I will leave an opinion on one video of your choice. Yes, I'm actually serious. I don't care where you get the pictures, I just need lots of them. The more bananas, the merrier. The only limitation is that I wont give an opinion if I already have the picture, but don't worry about that... I haven't even looked for any pictures, myself. I'm too lazy. So if you want those opinions (and they'll be detailed), get to work! Goooo! Find those bananas! If you can send me *video* footage with bananas, like from an anime or whatever, I will leave an opinion for ALL OF YOUR VIDEOS. You can send them to jerrit@verizon.net. Yes, even if you want to send video footage. I have a fast connection; I can handle it.

Extra note: ...oh, yes. One thing to note: I already do have the Hyatt-eating-a-banana/Excel slipping clips from the Excel Saga intro. Look elsewhere.

Extra Extra Note: I don't have many of the DVDs of Love Hina, and I don't have the time or patience to look through the ones I do have, but you might want to check around... Su eats a lot of bananas...

Extra Extra Extra Note: Keep in mind that I'm in hit-the-books mode right now. It may take a few days to get your opinion(s) up.

And now, on to the rest of the entry...

Finally I'm doing some work. I've put my video on hold until I'm at a more stable academic position. I'm working on the speech I have to give tomorrow... I'm very, very, very nervous about that, even though it's only a two-minute speech. I'm horrible with public presentation stuff... at least I know what I'm going to talk about, though.

I'm looking at the banner on this page, right now. I like it. It's that one that with all the things on it that say t.A.T.U + Sailor Moon, DBZ + Linkin Park, Green Day + FMA, and says in the middle, Hey! That's MY Idea! Cute. I'll take an amusing banner over one with pretty close-ups on people's faces any day.

Oh. Information in my video in progress. Well, my accountant has informed me that we are over budget in mid-production! Drastic measures are being employed against this, including:

-Deleting all the dumb, huge videos I have lying around that I never watch
-Being slightly less picky about what clips I want
    -And shortening the name.

Yes, I'm afraid it's true. As a cost-cutting move, the video's title is being changed from ASCV Hell (Anime Sound Clip Video Hell) to ADV Hell (Anime Dialogue Video Hell). No connection to the company ADV is implied by this, though they did release quite a few of the DVDs that we are ripping footage from. This is, of course, a coincidence. I don't really like the title "ADV Hell" as much as I did ASCV Hell, but I really had no choice. For those of you who thought I was joking, you're only half right. All of those measures are really being made, because my hard drive is full to bursting with footage. The title is being changed because it didn't fit the way my little bro wanted to do the introduction. My brother, by the way, is a master at all things coded and confusing. He's fifteen (sixteen in October!) and he is already highly proficient at Visual Basic code and the use of 3ds Max. Personally, I am greatly intimidated by code, and 3d editing is waaaaay over my head (though I still do intend to make 3d original animation video... some day). So, introducing the second member of BURNING NOODLE PRODUCTIONS.... Ian! Let's hear it for Ian!

Oh, and a big thank you to BishounenStalker ( http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_myprofile.php?user_id=36004 ) for giving me permission to use some of her One Piece footage for ADV Hell! As soon as my academic situation is less insane and more awesome, I'll leave an op for each of your videos! <3
  • 2005-09-04 03:08:59 I have not slept at all since Thursday night. I'm feeling pretty bad... going to try to get to sleep...

Much progress on AMVs, little progress on college work. I don't want to fail...
  • Want your name in the credits of my upcoming awesome video for doing hardly anything? READ! 2005-09-03 14:19:35 I'm having fun editing. ^_^'' 27 days left 'til I lose Premier, and I think it will be plenty of time... not only to finish Anime Sound Clip Video Hell, but also to remaster Royale Avec Fromage and For She Is The Kwisatz Haderach. When I do my Dune video over again, I'll actually do the fremenized eyes... and maybe some other extra stuff, I haven't decided yet. I also have 29 days left on both After Effects and Photoshop... I'm pooling every Adobe trial I've got towards making sure ASCV Hell does not suck.

By the way, there are two things I want to mention about that where *you* can help! I need pictures of bananas, both from real life and from anime. (I already have the banana in the opening for Excel Saga, though.) Anyone who sends me a picture of a banana will get their name in the credits of ASCV Hell. It's not exactly the most prestigious reward, but the video *will* be awesome and it isn't much work to find a picture of a banana. I wont spoil the surprise as to what I need the bananas for... suffice it to say that I need all I can get. Pictures of real bananas, drawn bananas, bananaphones, dancing animated GIF bananas, bananas in pajamas.... anything. The more the merrier.

And one thing I'd also like (but I doubt anyone has) is Magic School Bus footage of medium to high quality. Specifically, of the bus while it's flying through space. If you can find me that, I'll download and op every single one of your videos, and give you credit in the video, and... I dunno, I'll think of something else to pay you back. The odds of anyone reading this who has any idea where to get Magic School Bus footage is infintesimal at best, but a guy can hope.

And some footage I would like, but do not expect to readily find:

-Black Heaven; I've never seen the anime or anything, I've just heard the plot described to me and I've seen the footage in AMVs. I have a clip that is begging to be synced to Black Heaven, but alas, I must use Excel Saga instead. I am a Key!

-FLCL; I have the fansubs for FLCL, but of course fansubs are too ugly when compressed and not suitable for good videos... not to mention the fact that I'm doing sound clip videos, which means there's about a 100% chance that every clip I want has subtitles on it. I actually have both of the FLCL soundtracks, but I refuse to buy the DVDs because two episodes per disc is just plain ridiculous.

That anime where those two girls fight aliens or monsters or something by using... high-tech... cell phones. Of some sort. Damned if I know the anime's name, but I saw it once at a con, and I could use some more cell-phone clips. At least Spiral has some...

Cowboy Bebop; The TV series, I mean. See, I have the movie on DVD and I have about four episodes of the show on VHS back home, and I know I used to have fansubs of all 26 episodes lying around... but not anymore. Wouldn't be able to edit with it anyway.

One Piece; I don't need much of this. I need about two seconds worth of footage of Sanji so he can lip-sync for me. Dunno where I would find it...

Dragon Ball Z; Again, I just need a short clip, this time of the Supreme Kai looking shocked and talking. I don't want to use fansubs for obvious reasons, but if any of you have a video with the Supreme Kai opening and closing his mouth even once, pleeeeease help me out and let me use it. @_@' I hate having to drop ideas, especially the ones that should be so easy to put together.

    That's about it, really.

Oh, yeah. There are three editors I would like to thank, though I'm not telling *why* I'm thanking them yet, and they don't know either. Those three are Godix, Zarxrax, and Mckeed. You three don't know it yet, but I owe you all. ...and no, I didn't steal your footage or anything. It's something good.
  • I need food. 2005-09-03 11:10:46 I pulled an all-nighter working on After Effects trying to learn how it worked. Well, for the most part I suceeded and I have two segments I made with it. It looks surprisingly good. I'm progressing in leaps and bounds through this project... I might actually be done in a week, incredibly.

Next on the To Do List:

MY COLLEGE WORK! I have two essays and a speech to finish by Monday and Tuesday but I can't stop editing! GAH!
  • I love you, Adobe Premier. 2005-09-02 14:11:21 This is a beautiful program. Truly.

Anyway, I'm quite far into Anime Sound Clip Video Hell, and I'm loving every second of it. Editing is so much more fun when it isn't on WMM2. I'm becoming more and more ambitious with this project with every day I work on it... I've downloaded the trial version of Adobe After Effects, and I intend to learn how to use it and do the things I've always wanted to do with my videos. I feel rather intimidated after having heard how difficult AE is to use, but I'm willing to slog through complicated stuff to make this video. Yeehaw.

Also, my little brother is helping me back home. He's using his mad 3ds max skills to create the opening for ASCV Hell, and the first logo of BURNING NOODLE PRODUCTIONS! That makes him an official member of the studio, I say. ^_^' So technically, I'm not *just* a one-man studio!

My work in college is doing alright, and that's a lie. I have a journal (not this kind, sadly) to finish by tonight, an essay to write by Tuesday, and now a two-minute speech to prepare by Monday. It'll be a long weekend, that's for sure. But I'm going to work on my video, too... I've decided not to stress out about things. Yep.

Oh, yeah! Royale AVec Fromage finally got 8 opinions! It isn't on the Top 10% list, but if you sort the Top 10% into categories it is in:

316th place for Originality (directly above AbsoluteDestiny's Shameless Rock Video, two above Caldwell's Caffeine Encomium, three above Nappy's Stop the Rock... this makes no sense at all to me. Someone op those three videos and give them tens for originality so they can rightfully outrank me. @_@'')
and 314th place for Lip Sync.

Are either of these great, impressive achievements? No. Not really. But I still have trouble thinking of myself as an editor, so for me it feels great. It's not the actual Top 10%, and the Top 10% isn't even as impressive a list to get on than the All Time Star Scale List or the Top Favorite Videos List. But it's *something*. I'm making progress.

Just wait. ASCV Hell will be great.
