Vidding in general is more and more popular everyday, and you're right, I think a lot of it is most of the most prominent editors in the past are just growing up and out of the hobby a bit. I, for example, still enjoy editing but don't really enjoy most new anime. So if I edit something it's either going to be to an older source or to some Live Action source.
