wahahaha! I'm BACK!

Damn, it's been a long time since I posted here. Ah, well, what can you do when that silly thing called Real Life gets in your way? At any rate, I'm almost completely moved in at Houston, and my roommate is a very cool anime lover and amazing artist. :) I've already spent more money than I know I should at Planet Anime, but I just can't resist all the manga they've got. And I haven't done any work on my Basara video in a while (part of the reason being that my computer was en route from Chicago). I still know what I want to do with it, I've just been feeling very... uh, strange, I guess. Stranger than usual for me, at least. I've been feeling sort of anti-inspired. I know what I want to do, I just can't sit down and concentrate long enough to do it. Plus I've been on a fanfiction kick... I wrote my first FF8 fic, a little romantic vignette from Rinoa's POV. *blech* Two years ago, all my writing was dark, dramatic, and very very descriptive. Now it's all romantic and sappy. I don't know *where* the hell this is coming from. I'm not in a relationship, and while I like to date, I don't really want to get into anything heavy. So if you know a way I can contact my muses and ask them what the hell is up, do let me know. :)
Hm, since I've been out of the loop for a while, I'm going to have to hunt down new and exciting vids. Any suggestions?
Oh, and who's annoyed that it looks like the Count of Monte Cristo movie is going to completely butcher the book? *raises hand*
I'll try updating more often from now on. And don't worry alternatefutures... our challenge is still on! :)

we did it all for the... fish dance
2001-12-04 14:13:03
Yatta?!? No way - It's all about the FISH DANCE song!
A bunch of Japanese guys singing about fish, dance around ala the Backstreet Boys, while wearing fish hats and dressed in shiny, sparkling clothing. Gotta love those crazy Japanese. ;)

What's this? People are using the ever-so-convenient form mail on my amv site to email me? I'm getting fan mail and vid suggestions? *blinks some more in surprise*

"you are a dancing machine!"
2001-11-29 13:03:04
Well, since EK's post was very thought-provoking, I think it'd be fun to answer.
As for the first question, the problem is more like I know *exactly* what scene would fit in a certain place - except that scene doesn't exist! It's so frustrating to know that the characters would do something like what I imagine, and it was never animated. There are times I really wish I could just kidnap the animators and tell them, "Here, draw this. You forgot to animate this very important part." Anyway...
Music translates more into movement for me. If you ever feel like dying of laughter, just watch me dance. Pretty scary stuff. :) But I can't help *but* dance. If I'm alone listening to music playing loudly, I'll just start translating the music into what motions I think match it. So my dancing looks like this crazy mix amongst ballet, aerobic-type jumping, hip-hop, line dancing, and all sorts of other crazy, random things. This is what comes from taking ballet (many many many many years ago, though) and then being on the flag corps in high school. I'll dance around the living room like a moron, grab a broom or something, and then twirl it around madly until I bonk myself in the head.
I am REALLY weird.
This is also bad, because if I get a song in my head and I'm walking around outside - walking from the train to work, going shopping, what have you - I continually have to stop myself from just randomly dancing like a freak as I walk. I get enough odd looks as it is from my tendency to burst out laughing when I'm by myself (I can't help it - I remember something funny and I laugh! So sue me ;P ).
I'm also a big imagery person, so if I *do* have images during a song, they're much more complex than just colors. Everytime I hear "Blue," I think of this blue-world with dot people from those books they had out when I was in kindergarten. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? They were little books about shapes, and the shapes had homes and pets and whatnot.
Anyway, I'll stop now. I'm sure I've weirded everyone out enough. :)
