JOURNAL: CrackTheSky (Ben S)

  • To clarify 2008-02-04 01:21:01 That means, I've downloaded 1000 videos from Local...not that my videos have been downloaded 1000 times.
  • Wooo 2008-02-04 00:26:26 I just got my 1000th local AMV download tonight. Kickasssssss.

  • 2008 2008-01-24 16:00:12 So I've decided that this year, I'm going to really, really push myself AMV-wise. I'm determined to make videos that I don't think I can make, and do things I've never tried before. Sure, last year was a good year for me, I guess - I made lots of videos that lived up to at least my standards, if not always everyone else's, and I even won a couple awards. But I never went into a video thinking, "This is something that's actually going to be challenging for me." All of the videos I made last year were safe - good, maybe, but I never really improved. I was always able to make the videos I made last year. I never pushed myself.

This year is different. The first video I'm planning, the one I've already kind of started on, is going to take a LONG time to complete. I'm aiming for April 29th (the ACen deadline), but it would probably be much more realistic to aim for AWA Pro's deadline (whenever that might be). All I know is that by the end of the year, the video I'm planning right now will be done. Period. I'm not going to half-ass it, and I'm not going to decide it's too hard to finish. It. Will. Get. Done. But the things I have planned for it are pushing me in creative ways that extend outside of just editing. It's forcing me to do things I'm not very good at, and hopefully the result will be something completely and utterly new and unique. I'm really excited to finish it, but even more excited to actually put tens, maybe hundreds of hours into it. It's going to be a trial, but I think I'm going to really enjoy it.

Besides this video, I have a couple other things planned, things that, again, I have never done before. If I follow through with these plans, 2008 is going to be a very trying year for me AMV-wise, but I think I'll be the better for it. My quickie videos are definitely not going away...but I will be doing only a couple of them, I predict.

So here's to 2008, and to pushing one's boundaries. Cheers.
