What's that, you say?
You want another CrackTheSky video? Why, whatever would compel you to say such a thing?
Well, okay, if you insist.
Just give me a few days, mmk?

The most downloads I have on any one of my videos is 262 for World Taken Apart ;_; Not that I'm a well-known editor at all, but I'd say that almost 2,000 downloads is pretty darn good.

Singularity
2007-08-16 14:17:03
Ok, I just have to get this out there. I bought Mae's new CD on Tuesday, the day it came out. I wasn't expecting much because The Everglow was a letdown for me (had way too much of a poppy, mainstream sound, and the songs NEVER ENDED), but this new CD, Singularity, is beyond disappointing.
I'm sorry, but I just cannot recommend it at all. I don't know what they were thinking. It's like they turned into a guitar-driven rock band when that's just not what they're good at. I LOVE Destination: Beautiful - heavy on the keyboards because that's what they excel at. In this CD, the keys are driven way into the background and the result is just utter crap. They aren't meant to be a rock band - the unique sound they had on Destination: Beautiful is simply gone in place of this assembly-line mainstream rock shit. It pisses me off, because Mae has tons of potential, they just used it all up on their first CD and now they've become another unoriginal clone.
There are a few moments of brilliance on Singularity; the first song, "Brink of Disaster" is pretty fun, I enjoy "Just Let Go", as well as the downtempo "Home". However, the song "Crazy 8s" is so disjointed; the verses, bridge and chorus sound so different from each other that it feels like they just mixed together three unfinished songs and tried to connect them. Dave Elkins's voice is just BAD on this CD - "Sic Semper Tyrannis" is a perfect example, as is "Sometimes I Can't Make It Alone".
So I'm sorry if you like this CD, but I feel like they're becoming just another face in the crowd. This was the biggest letdown of the year for me music-wise (right above Anberlin's Cities...bleh). To be fair, I don't buy much new music, but still, I was hoping that Mae would come through with something awesome. Instead they release this cookie-cutter, by-the-books CD that any emo band could have done, and probably done better.
Sorry Mae, but you guys have seriously lost whatever respect I had for you.
