  • AX - Aftermath!! 2002-07-09 01:19:20 Got back from AX tonight...

After going to 4 AX conventions, I must saw this one was the worst. Badly organized and the inexperience of some of the new managers showed! This was the same with the AMV contest but there is some hope since there are people in the organization like Michael that really do care adn I hope that next year thing will be VERY different.

Met ALOT of AMV creator and had a great time with all of them! We had some very cool and constructive meetings at both the Rock Bottom and at AX itself. The panel was the biggest highligh of con and I had a blast bein gone of the panalist and hope everyone enjoyed thenselves and found some of what I said uselfull

I also have to thank Machine for his very kind comments about me in his journal:

"Vlad - The wisest AMV creator of them all. Now here is an AMV Guru who everyone should listen too. Very useful advice and a War veteran who has been through it all. A wise one that I learned alot from"

Gee, I don't know what to say and am glad that I do have something to say others find contstructive. Flipping that around, I would say this of Machine:

Machine - A much more cooler guy in person! Looks exactly as I pictured him and a great guy to talk to. One of the true new pillars of the Anime Community and a great asset! The best dressed AMV creator of us all well!

  • AX - One Day away 2002-07-03 01:53:32 And so I'm off to another AX tommorrow. Funny thing about the videos that made the final cut. My big Drama project that took me many months to complete didn't make the Drama cut! I was shocked!! This concept was maybe just too much for the Judges to handle maybe? The Drama catagory did have the largest entires (Atleast according to the origanizers) so maybe in the huge sea of entries, it was very hard to pick what really shoul make the cut? The reasons I'm not sure, but I thought for sure it would make the cut since I think it's much more dramatic and more original then even my Memories Dance video from last year! The again I didn't expect my to Action videos to both make it so I shouldn't complain too much! My Drama will see the light of day I hope at Otakon and AWA!

Another thing that is interesting that quite a few of the big guns: Nic, Brad, Justin, etc did make the cut! Wow, the video that did better be real good to take out those guys! Lots of unknown artists! I guess we'll see on Friday night....

Moral of the story: never expect or predict the results of a contest because your most likely in for a diappointment!

  • New Video and Summers Comming! 2002-06-11 14:40:42 EK: Sorry to hear about the fustrations with the new HD! It's not a suppirse that a good editor never sleeps!

Got a new idea for a video to one of my most favorate animes so I'll be spending my spare time once again finishing it in time to the AWA pro contest! Then I'll have to finish my masters video as well! Auuggg, just not enough time for everything anymore...If only I didn't need to sleep as well.

Had a great time at JACON and my video even won best action! Met a few more AMV creators and enjoyed the company of all the others throughout the weekend.

After the con, spent a week at Disney with Brad, Vanessa, Lee and Denise and had a great time with all! Also thanks to the company of Brett and EK at Universal on Monday!

    Looking forward now to AnimeExpo...
