JOURNAL: Cornwiggle

  • Redo 2010-01-23 14:23:01 I've decided, I'm going to redo my Basilisk AMV (on this site). Firstly, when I first edited it, my screen was pure garbage and I couldn't hardly see anything dark (which is most of the video) so the syncing suffered. Second, I have some better scenes to use, and I just got the DVDs. Perfect time.

Oh yes, and I'm not going to post it here. :)
  • Basilisk 2010-01-15 15:35:44 I've learned something I never knew about it. Apparently, Basilisk was written in 1959. Yes, 51 years ago, some japanese dude, with an absolutely amazing imagination, wrote what was to become an anime 50 years later. Back then it was known as the Kouga Ninja Scrolls...but still, the anime is Basilisk: The Kouga Ninja Scrolls. Not that much of a difference.

You're probably thinking the anime is only loosely based or something, not even. That's the cool part. Literally every character name, description, supernatural ability, fight, death, beginning to end is in the anime. If you watched the anime first and then read the book, you'd just think it's the anime in a novel form.

The Basilisk manga took the original story and followed the novel in terms of character design, background, story, all of that several decades after the novel (I believe) and then the anime adapted that. I just find that amazing the story has existed (in its entirety for so long and has held up being filtered through 3 outlets).

If you've actually seen or read the manga, you'd be amazed to think all of this was thought up before 1960. Too bad the original author is dead, he'd probably enjoy the anime. I think he did see the manga though, so, good enough. What a great imagination he must have had.

Seeing this in book form makes me laugh so hard. If only Christian Humber could see his shitpile of a story actually being bought for money, he'd probably have a heart-attack. Though, that's probably because he rarely moves from his seat.

In book form, THE BIRTH OF A SUPER SAYIN WORLF takes on a new life. This is so hilarious.
  • Depressing 2010-01-14 15:59:22 It's kinda sad that there are like 3 good Basilisk AMVs on this site. The majority are terrible, and there's just not that many anyway. That's a disappointment. But I did find two today. That's two more than I had.
  • 2010-01-05 16:36:14 The VCAs aren't about the best video.

It's about who's the most overrated and licks the most ass.

    Truth.
