  • Bunnies 2002-05-17 03:39:04 Another treat at my family's house: a baby bunny had gotten onto the back porch and was trying to crawl into some boxes. It was a wild one, there are adults that like to cut across our yard to the alleyway behind our house. They had someone catch it and put it into a bird cage. When I got there, it was going into shock and was hiding under a lettuce leaf. They had given it water and lettuce, because of course rabbits like lettuce, right? Not really. I gave it some banana and wrapped a towel around the cage to mimic a burrow and it seemed to perk up.

I let it go, and it took off running, behind the Tuf Shed. So hopefully it will get back to where its family is and everything will be alright.

    Boing!
  • Star Wars Ep. II 2002-05-16 07:00:45 Just got back from it. I really really enjoyed it, aside from the high school crowd that just happened to be not only snotty and juvenile (expected), but also considered themselves the best movie critics ever, because they had seen Memento and thought it was just so overhyped.

    :

Guess what? They had predicted before they watched it that it would suck. They watched it. Their authoritative opinion: it sucked. How unexpected!

You really set yourself up for this kinda thing. Nobody can let themselves sit back and watch a movie to ENJOY it instead of ripping it to shreds. I like making funny comments during movies, but just because it has some silly stuff doesn't mean that it's entirely bad. Some people take the wrong things way too seriously.

I'll probably write more later about "Send in the Clones" (Yes, I had to re-title it because the other was just too silly) but for now I'll just point out some things that affected me most:

    1) It's better than Ep. 1. Really. No comment at this time about how it relates to 4,5,6 because they are untouchables of movie history and if you believe in them it would be like trying to convince you by slamming your head into a brick wall.

And all you Jar-Jar haters will be happy that he plays a minor role this time around. :P

    2) It has character development, although I don't care much for the young actors' performances, but this could change when I see it again.

    3) Lots of action and cool effects. I certainly believed it was all "real". :) Loved it.

More later, for now: sleep. :)
  • Mulholland Drive = Brain Melt 2002-05-15 06:43:32 This was a great movie. Despite not understanding it entirely, I was captivated by the visuals and "Lynchian" style of it. After watching, Kazz and I puzzled over what we had just seen. We (thought we) understood the first 2/3 of the movie, but once the dead body is discovered and the lesbian love scenes start, it gets weird. Yes, boys, I said lesbian scenes.

    SPOILERS!!!
If you are utterly confused by the movie, here's a great resource:

    http://www.salon.com/ent/movies/feature/2001/10/23/mulholland_drive_analysis/

So, it appears that Betty and Diane are the same character, as they are the same actress, same thing with Rita and brunette Camilla. As cliche as it sounds, this actually works: the first 2/3 of the movie are a simplistic dream of Diane's. She "recasts" herself, the way the makers of the dreamworld movie have to "recast" the actress, and end up choosing the blonde Camilla - who was the chick kissing brunette Camilla (Rita) in the end scenes/reality.

I was confused, then, why the Nancy Drew pair find Diane's body rotting in the bedroom. *I* think it's because Diane cast off her "role" as Diane and chose instead to become Betty. When she wakes up from her "movie" (dream) she to greet her neighbor, she finds the blue key there, goes crazy, is taunted by the tiny old people, and shoots herself.

Really an interesting movie! There are lots of good reviews of it out there, and lots of poor reviews of it also. If you like tricky, artsy movies then you will probably really like Mulholland Drive.

  • Space-Time Warp in Trillian? 2002-05-14 03:21:12 Kazz and I have found something weird in Trillian. We can't join the amv.org chatroom unless someone invites us, and neither can invite the other. But we can both join the same fake AnimeMusicVideos dot ORG chat room, with only us innit. At the same time I was in the "real" one. So I could see him type, but nobody else could, and my name was listed twice. Pretty kooky.

Snippets from our conversation regarding screen names. He took 2 hours coming up with one....

<Kazz> I don't want to be CrabHands, I'd rather be HerpesBlister
<Spyral> You mean you've spent 2 semesters in Japanese and don't know how to say "Masturbating Madman"?
<Spyral> I want you to be Masturbating Madman!
    <Kazz> I'm trying!!!

So now he's finally Masturbating Madman, in Japanese (supposedly): Mekunokyoujin. I'm on as EemBibble because EemFibble was already taken........

    ....

Who knows when I'll finally be able to review those vids I dl'd? To anyone who has reviewed my video, I'm gonna review one (at least) of yours. :)

  • Birds 2002-05-13 22:18:05 Apparently, my cockatiels at my fam's house have called in some others. I guess they knew how to escape from their own cage, and are attempting to break my own birds outta prison.

Unfortunately, we might not be able to do one of the vids in time for AX. :( So we might work on a different idea, or at least try to squeeze that one in....

And I've made plans (I think) with some other folks this week and I have to remember what they were....
