Boring Entry
2002-05-13 16:32:14
Here's what happened yesterday: visited two sets of mothas for Motha's Day. Found out that I didn't have a prescription drug card yet, and my insurance agent is looking into the matter. If I get screwed over again with no prescription coverage I will go on a shooting spree... or just cancel the policy and go on another hunt for health insurance that does what I need it to. My allergy meds were delayed so that they could contact my doctor and okay it - I guess the prescription's time limit had run out since I haven't bought any since.... January? because I had no coverage and it cost $65. : But it's ready to be picked up now, assuming I have coverage... I can't really afford it otherwise, but I've sneezed a zillion times already today. Talk about unsanitary. :
I got some hickory smoked soy nuts to snack on. They're quite addictive. And the package assures me they are very nutritious.
Today I must do laundry, I must I must. And fill out all the change of address stuff. And clean out the spare bedroom....
Or just sit around and play some games. Hmmm....

Weekend Fun continued
2002-05-11 17:56:50
Okay, where was I? Yes, today I want to go shopping for Mother's Day and get a couple of graduation cards, and use my gift certificates at Book Star. If I ever get around to washing some clothes to wear and taking a shower... tough decisions. I'm kinda in the mood for a couch potato day, but tomorrow will be busy so I need to get that stuff today.
I had a dream the other night where the bald guy from the Shield attacked us. Silvercat and I tried fighting him off with baseball bats but we weren't strong enough to bring him down, so I ended up grabbing his head with my feet and squishing out his eyeballs with my toes. Obviously, that's the way to take out a bad guy. We put his body under blankets and sat on them, I called 911 and said, "We've just had a home invasion, I need some assistance." But I was on my cell, they thought I was living at my old address and I tried to tell them I moved, but I couldn't remember the new on. It ended up the police came but the body had dissapeared....

Weekend Fun
2002-05-11 17:05:58
Last night's video editing session went very well. Silvercat was only going to stay until 11, but ended up staying until 3:30am. Haha! And she had to get up at 8:30 this morning. I fell asleep, as usual, and could barely open my eyes to see the section we'd been working on. I need to rewatch it, I don't even remember what it was....
So today I have to..... goto the bank. I'm overdrawn. Ack!

Mornings Suck
2002-05-10 13:20:44
Got up at 8:30, and I'm not used to ever getting up before 10. The only time I'm a morning person is if I never went to sleep the night before. Did my errands, had my morning coffee, and am more or less awake and not in any danger of falling back of sleep. Yet I am strangely unmotivated to wash up and goto work.
They are remodeling the office and even 'tho the new office is HUGE, everything is jumbled up together and with the construction noises, there's no way to get any work done. BUT look at the new fans, just look at them!
Hopefully next week it will be finished, and I can get back to scanning, answering phones, and trying to keep my area free from cigarette ashes. Ugh, I probably have to get a new keyboard as mine was "borrowed" permanently. I need to get a purchasing card...
I need to get out of work at 4 and Kazz and I are going shopping for DVD+R discs. Not the -R, but the new and improved(?) +R. I remain blissfully ignorant of competing technology standards. And then we're all meeting up at home to work on our Shoujo Con entry!

Plant Biology + Emeril = Sweet Happy Fun?
2002-05-09 14:58:03
Is odd. One of the trees at my family's new house grows oranges and lemons because you can graft citrus trees pretty easily. But the weird thing was that ONE of the oranges was a "blood orange" which had juice the color of deep red blood. Imagine my surprise when I cut it open. Gleefully I went out to pick more of these little treasures, since they are sooo fabu in the gourmet food scene. However, every other orange from that tree was the normal, orange color.
:(
So much for gourmet foods.
Hopefully there will be more next year, but I'm uneducated in plant biology (it's ironic that I'm taking that course in the Fall, isn't it?) so I don't know if this was the one and only fruit pollinated with another blood orange, and the rest all got pollinated with "normal" orange. Are citrus only hybridized through grafting or can it produce different fruit by cross-pollination, as roses produce different flowers? A mystery that must be resolved.
