JOURNAL: dokidoki

  • 2001: Sayounara, da nyo. 2001-12-31 22:32:38 Guess I'll write something before the new year...

In 1998, 1999, and 2000, I made two videos per year. ("The K-Team" was made during Christmas 1998, but premiered at Katsucon 1999) This year, I did six. But it doesn't seem like much of an accomplishment since most of them were short. (three were 30 seconds) But anyway... I just made one of them available for download a couple of hours ago. (NYO is WAR)

I went to five cons in 2001... (AX/Otakon/AWA/AN/AnimeUSA) I wasn't going to go to AnimeUSA, but Jason talked me into it. It's one of the smallest cons I've ever been to, but it was one of the most fun since all (well, a lot :) of my AMV-makin' friends were there. (and the ones that didn't know I was coming were like "you came down here for this?")

Thanks to all of the AMV makers that made the cons more fun than they would have been otherwise. (I was happy to meet some new people at AX and Otakon) Also thanks in particular to Eric Kobet, PatrickD, and Legionair for making the videos Tainted Donuts, Survivor, and "What's Opera, Tenchi?". If you know my videos, then you know that I like crossovers. ^_^; I have a couple more in mind (what, me overdo it?), but who knows how long they'll take.

I hope to see many of you that I've met at cons past again at the 2002 cons. And I hope that I'll produce something worthwhile next year.
(there'll still be a couple of little dinky things, though. :P)

("5000 people have viewed your profile." (as of this writing) Whee, nice round number, just before 2002)
Current music: "New Year's Day", U2

  • ...Goodbye! 2001-12-13 01:20:24 Gee, it's been a while.

    You remember this, right?

Probably not... unless you've seen this video:

Now I'm working on the programming for this:

(Which is one reason I haven't been working on video stuff)
Over half done, I think... We'll be putting this on at our anime club on Friday. We've got the questions ready, and special anime-related insults. Woo! I hope it works out.
  • nyah 2001-11-26 12:19:48 Shut up, Hsien, you kusoyaro! :P
By the way, Thanksgiving was *last* month! :)

Another thing about grammar... (because you love it so)
I don't recall ever being taught the difference between "it's" and "its", until one day the whole class got marked down for getting it wrong on an assignment. I never forgot that "lesson". I also had a problem with spelling it "thier" until I realised that all three started with "the". (fantastic revelation to me at the time)

I didn't get here soon enough to witness it firsthand, but an "official" email at work last Friday said that jokes had been made about anthrax, and somehow the police got called in and the company was severely fined. The sad part though was, due to previous jokes about anthrax (in journal entries and elsewhere), I had to read the first part of the email a few times before I could tell if he was serious or not. (it was clear by the time I got to the fine part)
  • I give up. 2001-11-23 02:32:39 Honestly, the first time I saw "would of", it took days before I realised what the person was trying to say. (grammar does not compute!)
And now, on a messageboard, I see "kind've".

    english r not 4 me.

EK: B-mod is "behaviour modification"? (given the context)
    I don't advocate using it, but "nuke-you-lar" looks/sounds funny. :)
I haven't heard it pronounced that way too often.
  • aghawagharaghablagha 2001-11-22 21:38:50 arrrgh, everywhere I turn, I see people spelling it "suprise". There's another R! I try not to be a spelling nazi, but it bugs me when I see it so much. Also, it's amazing how many people spell it "villian". It must be something about the arrangement of the keys, because I'm sure I've done it as well.

I installed Monopoly (German edition) on my mom's computer a little while ago because my dad tried to and said it didn't work. Worked fine for me. Except that I got sent to jail six times in one game. I never had a chance! :( (and I accidentally accepted a trade because I don't know German. but it ended up helping me get a monopoly, not that it helped)

doo de doo... Making Right Now backups now. blah. My CD burner is slow (4X is too slow for the amount I have to do), but I see no point in getting a faster one when I can wait for DVD burner/media prices to come down.

StudioKZ is right, at least from my point of view. The period between Neko and Katsu is kind of slow. For me, anyway, I need a break. :P I've thought of packing in this AMV gig (except DDR2 of course) and just play games all the time (^_^), but meh, I think there's some stuff I still want to do.
I cleared off 15 gigs of stuff from my drives, and have at least 45 more to go, easily.

Go watch MeriC's new video. It's sooperdooper.
