Arghrhgrhghgh... In the May build of the library I'm using, prtstdatomicupdate could be called while rendering, but not in later versions. This wasted several hours. blah.
The title quote was overheard from an artist here, commenting on how some model seemed to have (in some sense or another) disappeared from one of his scenes. I guess he had a backup or something, since it didn't seem to be a major problem.

Beowulf: For a video to be entered in AWA Masters, it must be new, ie: not entered in any contest before. Thus, Shameless Rock Video is ineligible.
It's inconceivable the amount of unnecessary hostility on the forums recently. I thought it would suck less when I read Off-Topic less, but...

I got an article on Grand Theft Auto: Vice City... Kickass stats. 120 vehicles instead of 50. (including motorcycles!) 40 weapons instead of 15. (including machete!) 9hrs music instead of 3.5hrs. (including period licenses like Judas Priest!) Island is twice as big! (all available at start) Indoor environments! (including hallways, etc) Your character has a voice! (Ray Liotta from Goodfellas)
Also higher res, better framerate, radiosity stuff, better AI/pathfinding... cops will chase others now, and fool you.
I heard some sales figures at work... It's embarassing. PSX is outselling XBox and Gamecube. I know it has its low price as an edge, but still... PS2 is also beating them, of course.

PS: I'm not exactly a Judas Priest fan, but the game is set in the 80s, and I think it's neat that they're licensing appropriate music.

I decided to wait until I emailed the guy before mentioning this, but I heard that he showed Senshi On Springer to Weird Al at San Diego Comic Con. (I guess he had a laptop or something) Apparently Weird Al laughed his ass off. :) I hear that he's an anime fan, and that it's mentioned on his page, but I haven't found it yet.
